Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
I use a Macbook Pro to run MS programs, just run win10 in bootcamp, works just fine. Also run windows 10 for a couple of other programs that don't have MacOS equivalents, like Solar controller. Bootcamp comes with MacOS and lets you dual boot into windows or MacOS.
My head hurts....

Something about 'puters.

Actually as a nerd I would never use a gaming device or lo-power device like a Chromebook or Raspberry Pi to flash the EPROM's in a vehicle. I would stick to a mainstream unit like a Mac or something with a fast processor and win10, and better USB port and driver. As you found it doesn't take much to brick an EPROM.

I'd contact Livernois an see if they would exchange the programer.

I've changed the tune a few times without issue. Put the high octane tune in. Took it back to stock for a service visit. Put the high back in. When gas shot up put the lower octane tune in. No issues.

Shoot them a message.

I’m sorry to hear all the mess this has caused for the OP (and others?).

But I can’t hold my tongue on this one. “Tuning” an off the shelf, very average engine and its related electronics on your “everyday driver” seems rather foolish, right?

By that logic, so is performing any modification to your vehicle.

People spend money on what makes them happy.

To call someone foolish because they don't spend it where you think it should be spent seems rather foolish, right?

No! Foolish would be making any mod before researching the hell out of it. I did that with the Livernois tune to the point I finally pulled the trigger and VERY glad I did.

:stop:Let's not all panic like the Transmission threads. lol This was unfortunate what happened but besides this one case everyone else's has worked flawlessly. I'm more surprised that @Livernois Motorsports didn't take care of this from the start.
I am too. We have a very small side business and would take care of someone like this - even years later. The good will it would generate would be tremendous. Especially here with such an active community.

I've thought about doing a tune, but likely never will.

But the @Livernois Motorsports is the one I like, mainly from YouTube videos, and I'm really surprised to hear how they treated you Dr. Zaius. =(

And your choice of Livernois wasn't based on some random fly-by-night company or guy in a van (that may, or may not, have been me in the Best Buy parking lot).

Livernois has the endorsement, specifically for Ford Rangers, by many "big name" bloggers and loads of YouTube videos. By what I've seen, it should be solid and work very well.

You did not choose poorly and you didn't do something "out of the norm" and certainly nothing that rises to the point of being called foolish.

Thank you for sharing your experience and I'm sorry for the loss of your money and the loss of your time installing it and giving it a try a few times (I'd so freak about it making the truck dead!).

I sure hope @Livernois Motorsports decides to be a hero and not a zero. It's never too late to do the right thing.

Honestly, I'm neither expecting nor requesting them to do anything.

I'm just recounting my experiences with it.

It doesn't hurt to ask Livernois for help. Customer service doesn't always run out just because the warranty did.
I would definitely try contacting them. They sold you $600 headache. There has to be an answer.
