Well just moved up my appointment to this this Thursday. Noticed today my transmission would not skip a gear either accelerating or decelerating regardless of throttle or brake input. It wasn’t in tow mode or sport. Really weird. Would hang for a bit longer on hills and just behaved really weird. 6000 miles and back to the dealer.
good luck brother.

Noone wants to check it for some odd reason. I had 2 mechanics argue with me that there is NO dip stick attached to the pan. One said NO THERE ISNT! Take it to the dealer! A service person at a Ford dealer argued with me that it is completely sealed with no way to check.

When I let the truck warm up I would park it on a steep slanted driveway and move it into park, reverse, neutral, drive. It worked at first but now not as much.
Same. Response from service person at my dealership.

So I called a well recommended local transmission shop and turns out they will do transmission fluid level checks for free. I’m sure not all do but may be worth having a transmission shop check it properly even if they charge a bit. That’ll give you a bit more peace of mind if the dealer gives you the runaround

I’ll post an update as soon as I find anything out. Today noticed what I would call a lack of power along with the absent gear skipping. Couldn’t hear the turbo spooling at all like I normally can on faster acceleration. On hills the truck was really hesitant to downshift so I had to do it manually by locking out gears. Still no dash light on. Hoping there are some codes for the dealer to go off of. Truck just feels rougher overall.

Hopefully they'll give you the details on what's wrong inside. I'm curious if it's the CDF drum issue others have reported. I also don't fully understand how some trucks exhibit worse shift performance than others even if the valve body is changed.
New transmissions are complicated and seems like the OEMs are always struggling to hire and keep good vehicle calibration engineers.
Guess it's beyond the realm of possibility to engineer it correctly and wring it out exhaustively before placing it on the market. A single component with this many problems screams beta testing to me.

Just got home from picking up the 5g. Cold start in dealer parking lot first to second gear - pause then clunk lol into second. ? interesting results basically confirmed our suspicions. 1. Came from ford low on transmission fluid 2. Center support bearing for driveshaft was tostada 3. They did the reset of trans pcm test drove it, still drove skanky so they did valve body and again reset.
And while better than dropped off it is not fixed. I would have just walked back in and left it but i know they would say oh it needs to be driven to re learn blah blah. Plus i got more important a stressful issues to deal with. Now im redoing the ford performance tune they wiped.
Geez these things anemic without the tune...
So the verdict- dealer was nice and did basically all ford would allow them to or half pay them for. Truck still not fixed. No surprise.

Reloading the ford performance tune may be a chore since they overwrote it. Maybe that process is easier now than it used to be.

yes im not sure what changed but after reinstalling the ford tune i had trouble codes pop up almost instantly . they did a nice job on the bad bearing at least. i was also happy they did the vavle body swap without me having to come back again for another round. sadly transmission still shifts sloppy and lags / lugs.
i decided to use the features of pro cal and see what the trans is "doing" while i drive. got a temp of 200 to 210, normal drive no load, slip time of 1.6 seconds was highest lowest just under a second, lag time of about 1 second. i dont know what most of those mean. i have data now. and what to do with it ?

It blows my mind how Ford can send a truck out with low transmission fluid levels straight from the factory. Completely unacceptable. That’s one of the few things that has to be correct. Can’t be good for the transmission but maybe they don’t care. More money in service fees for them.
