The Audi, Mercedes and BMW’s tend to perform quite well. I think the only Audi that the Ranger would be able to beat in a race would be the Q3 – their smallest SUV. It would be a good race, and they would probably run side-by-side. My wife has a base model Mercedes GLC 300. That is Mercedes second from the bottom SUV and it is the size of a Rav4 or CR-V. The GLC 300 is noticeably quicker than my Ranger. In an actual race, my Ranger would be In the rear view mirror.
Flash a tune in that Ranger and see where things stand with that GLC 300...it would be a lot closer.

Never mind whether someone chooses to pass them illegally (that's the passers choice, after all), but if they're doing 15mph under the speed limit on winding roads, it's way too possible for someone who's doing the speed limit to discover this slowpoke as they're coming around the corner. Driver 2 will have done nothing wrong, but could still end up rear-ending Driver 1 at a 15mph difference, which is enough to do some damage and maybe injury.

In Europe, they actually enforce the laws about driving too slow, which is why you'll rarely ever see someone "camping" in the passing lanes on their highways. As far as I know, such laws exist in N. Am. too, but they're rarely enforced, and so don't have any teeth.
The local PD here would issue a citation to driver 2 for "failure to control/maintain speed". It's their catch-all for if you rear end a vehicle. Other drivers are good reason to have a dash cam and be able to fight the ticket. I'm currently looking at maybe a Vantrue model cam.

A tuned Ranger would probably take it. We could find out if I can get my son take the roof top tent off his Ranger. He has a 2021 Ranger STX FX4 with the Ford Performance tune.

Normally not a bragger but couple weeks back I ended up giving a Honda Accord a serious smackdown. I hate people who look in their mirror and see someone is behind them so they have to slowdown. I lost it when said Accord did 30mph around a curve I do at 50mph regularly and have done faster. No passing zone ended and I slammed the throttle down giving the turbo a work out. Oh yeah he decided it was his duty to stop me from passing him despite driving under the speed limit but the Ranger once it got in the mode walked him. He didn't try that again.

That's the most jerk move when they try to keep you from passing AFTER driving slow.

Why I back off a bit and then slam it because they don't see it coming and the momentum is there by the time they react when it's too late.
