I’m wondering if I can find a tailgate damper that functions down to -40. (Looking at you Dave) I know the DeeZee one tends to slow and seize at lower temps, and I am not interested in dealing with that. If anyone has any suggestions, I am open to all, including product links, name calling, and death threats. If I can’t find one that meets that qualification I’ll just have to go un-dampened.
Let the fireworks commence!
Use this once daily with a DeeZee and you're good to go, at -60 degrees and above. I've had mine for 2 years, still working like a charm. Don't use near a propane tank though, I only have 4 wheels where my camper used to be.

WARNING: Once you go damper, you never go back.

Is it really a Ranger if you DON'T have a damper?

Besides... does ANYTHING really work at -40 degrees?
Most vehicles do as long as you have an engine block heater, transmission pan heater, battery maintainer, and oil pan heater plugged in. All the cars up here have little extension cords dangling out the front grill so you can plug them in when it gets cold. You do have to be careful with the plastic and even some of the thin metal because everything gets really brittle at those temps. Coldest I’ve seen it here was -56, and most folks still went to work.

Looks like the the results are in. TheNorseman’s Ranger will go un-dampened! Sorry Dave! Keep up the good work!! I’m with you in spirit! (This seems like a great opportunity to develop your own line of professional grade extreme tailgate dampers, in order to spread the good news further toward the poles)
Hey the Russians use pure alcohol as hydraulic fluid in their MIGs so it won’t freeze…

Dave?

Or you could use flourinert that’s good to -60 but then you’d have a 200 dollar damper .

...and you want to move???? To where? Your options are running thin, although I suppose that you could head down to Central America....

That's why we're still here. lol Every time I think of a place I look at the weather throughout the winter and I'm not sure I can deal with it. I guess if/when this place get worse I'll just have to suck it up and do it.

? Something tells me I should check out Payson. ?

Heck Dave, Payson looks like a great place but good price AZ property seems to have dried up in the last 8 months. F’ing Californians!!! Yeah I’m one of them too… need to leave this godforsaken state while I still have traditional values… about 6 more months…

Andy have you figured out a place yet or are you still looking? I know we talked about UT but that got kind of expensive over the past couple years too. The only reason I said Payson was because Kent @Radioman has been telling me for years I should check it out. lol
