No kidding? My place in Verrado used to be way out in the boonies. And the only area in Verrado that was built up was around Basha’s. I’ve looked at the satellite images and it’s really amazing how the whole valley has filled in.

When I got married down there in ‘91, it was empty desert between Scottsdale and Mesa. It’s pretty much filled in from Buckeye to Mesa and from Chandler to Anthem now.

I fear it won’t be long until they have to build a 404.
My Dad was stationed at Williams AFB in the early 50's and we lived on the Base. It was WAY out in the boonies then.

When you go past Basha's it use to be a dead end at Indian School Rd. Now it continues past Indian School and they built Victory At Veraddo which now that's almost all built up. Indian School is now built up all the way to Jackrabbit Trail with a new high school, businesses and a Fry's. They're just breaking ground now for a Costco there too right by Rackrabbit Trail. I haven't even been over to the east valley in years. The traffic is so bad if you're not on your way back (heading west) by 2:00 pm you'll be stuck in traffic for hours.

I guess I’m glad it’s my ex-wife who’s dealing with that now and not me. ?

Yeah, that's dangerous, but the ones that scare me are the biddies driving with their smoke in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. That can be aggravated if they are also applying makeup. Yes, I have seen that.
That will reward you with a $1,000 fine over here if you get caught. Oh and the cops don't have to see you, they have cameras attached to traffic lights.

When I was at Luke AFB in 1981 I had my 1968 Mustang with a 428CJ. On Litchfield road I got clocked doing 165 by a Maricopa county Sheriff in a unmarked Fairmont. There wasn't much out there then.

I’m not sure I would have stopped for a Fairmont. ;)

I used to mountain bike in the White Tanks and it was fun seeing the fighter jets returning to Luke. Sometimes, they’d come in fairly low and fast - usually in pairs, so that was kind of cool. This was only about ten years ago and I’m not sure what aircraft they were (I wouldn’t know an F-16 from an F150) but man, that sure is a lot of airplane for such a tiny cockpit.

There's so many businesses and stop lights now you'd be lucky to hit 50 mph on Litchfield now. lol There's a Capet/tile store there called Uptight Carpet and was talking with the owners daughter about a year ago. She said when her dad first opened the store in '78 there was nothing there but cotton fields. She thought her dad was nuts but he saw the future I guess and now it's store after store for miles and miles.

I't's difficult driving down the 303 because the jets fly right over you. You can see them coming in from the White Tanks on their approach to Luke. Sometime's I'll pull over and watch them doing touch and goes but others Annies yelling at me to keep my eyes on the road. When the air show is in town they'll occasionally circle close to my house as they're using a larger flight pattern. While I love the sight/sound it sure makes me glad I don't live any closer to Luke, they're loud!

Living in a big city, I’ve seen my share of folks doing the wrong thing while driving. Usually, it’s a breakfast sandwich or a burger and it doesn’t seem that distracting for them but when I see people plucking their eyebrows or eating a bowl of cereal with a spoon while driving (WTF?)
The last one, seriously? ?
I would like to see how that works ?
