Changed my oil today at 4500 miles. We are taking my son to see some snow next weekend for his birthday and an oil change before a road trip sounds good, eh?

Project Farm's Synthetic Oil Review recommended the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-30 full synthetic for people running DFI engines due to its score on the evaporation test and I heeded his advice. (It didn't win the competition the Amsoil did.) Since my interval plan is 5000 miles I think the performance of this oil will more than suit my needs!

Since I'm a geek and this is the break-in filter I cut it open to see what's what. A few tiny tiny brittle bits of what I'm guessing is sealant and that's it. No metal - nothing on the magnet! Built on a Thursday, baby ?

Very smart move to change the oil before a trip. Excellent job taking care of your ride, and happy early birthday to your son!

Picked up my Ranger from the Ford dealership.

-Tires moved over to new wheels

-Front and rear differential fluid changed

-Trans flush and filter change

-Trans KAM reset

I would tell you the price but it would probably anger you! So instead, some pics of the Ranger on it's new Black Rhino Armory wheels!

Looks good. Much better than OEM wheels and the level of mods on the truck.

Need them mo beefy tires tho.

Edit: Also get to work on fixing that awning positioning. I know we talked about it before, but man soon you may be required to staple an orange flag on it.

Actually, Jack. I wanted to say it - I really did. I held back because I was feeling a bit sorry for @Glocker - being sick and all. Oh well - thanks.

Get well soon John and fix that awning. ;)

Just for fun! (the angle of the camera makes them look uncentered :) )

The "invisibility" switch renders all the others superfluous.
Proving to me that you are just gadget obsessed.

I want to fix the awning and shorten my PVC outdoor shower. The outdoor shower will be a breeze to cut shorter and clean up. The awning is a different story. If I move it forward to get rid of the overhang out back, it interferes with the rear-passenger door opening and closing. I initially installed it that way and it drove me nuts. Especially because my wife would forget (not her fault as she doesn't use my truck at all) and hit the awning with the door when she would throw something in the back seat. Any ideas? I feel like firming up the rear "design" of the truck is now a priority.

First post here. Got GTR Carbide lights and a grill from my lady for Christmas. Finally got around to installing everything and I will say I love it.

Now for the big question. Sequential turns or regular?

Definitely sequential. I’m looking at buying a set of these for myself in the very near future. I know you haven’t had yours for very long, but how are they holding up and how do they perform at night? Also, and I hate to ask, do you have any pics of them in action? I just want to know if they have real world performance close to what the Headlight Revolution YouTube video claims. TIA.

Too late to suggest a SuperCab, so…hack saw and an Olfa knife - job done.

The only thing I can think of (based on the photos) is an extension to raise it above the height of the door or to position it inbound and forward, over the cab. I’m sure Jack could fab up something. :D

And we discussed a long long time ago that elevating the brackets should be a piece of cake, even if it means double stacking brackets. Get me a measurement for how much more clearance you need to clear the door and being the all knowing omnipotent being that I am I will direct you my son.

35K mile inspection, some fluid for the crankcase and engine to prevent something turning into jelly, tire pressure inspection, battery inspection (80% life left), and various other bull-crap that's not needed if they even check all the things on the "multi-point inspection." I can go further into details if someone was wondering, just didn't have the receipt next to me. Only thing useful but not worth it was the synthetic oil change. I will be doing my own next time instead of waiting a half a day for an oil change... Total cost $350~. 175ish for the oil change and 175ish for the 30-35k mile inspection.

TLDR: 35k mile inspection does not seem to be worth it and do your own oil changes.
What's up with a 35k inspection? Did Ford tell you, you had to have one?

I finally received my cheap PC so I could now download the software for my Livernois tuner box. Originally I used a friends PC (I have a Mac) and he's since moved.Did all the updates and loaded up the MyCal with them.

I loaded to 91-93 Performance tune back on to my Ranger. I was running it for a while then switched to the soft shift tune for the last year but read that softer shifts might not be so good for the transmission. Not wanting to join Sid I figured I'd flash it back and boy what a difference. Just a quick trip around the block and it's a rocket again! ?
