As Phil's pointed out multiple times..

There's over 5 million of these transmissions in service right now... if they were shit.. it would of been proven by the model of vehicle its in that weighs the most, by this point.

But yeah totally just go buy a Ridgeline.

Not that I'm really worried about a trans failure, but now I'm glad I paid $1600 for an 8-year 125K ESP.
How was yours only $1600? I paid $2200 for 7/75000.

Wow Sid, that a lot of $$$. I would do the same.
Would not be happy but, it is, what it is.
I hate that saying....
I changed my engine from a scrap yard on my 10yr + Suzuki but I would go new on a 'new' truck. It just sucks.

@Msfitoy I would open a case with customer care to see what might come of it. The Hyundai Santa Fe I replaced with my XLT blew its engine and I was out of warranty based on time and not miles as the second owner. It had $39k miles. I spoke to several people over the course of a couple weeks and was ultimately denied full coverage but authorized for a 50% goodwill discount. When I authorized the dealer to do the repair ($13000 before 50%) the SA called me back and said Hyundai corporate covered it at 100%. Also ask if they have AAA discount or Costco discount (if you have the membership) as the former can be as much as 10% and the latter 15%.

lucky they have a trans on prem. I waited 6 months for the motor to come in off back order. I had to buy a new car (not my XLT) and the Santa Fe depreciated $5k over that time.

Out of curiosity was your Hyundai equipped with a theta II engine between MY 2013 to 2019 ? They were/are all covered under a DOJ settlement. If it was the reason you had to wait so long is that hundreds of thousands had to be replaced

i dont remember which models and years it was under but I remember them having a masive recall in 2015(maybe 2016) with the engines having metal shavings in them and having to be replaced. I wonder if this might be it?

Nope it was the V6 which apparently is pretty problematic but not part of a class action suit yet

Good for you getting it covered, yeah the 3.3l had its issues, the 3.8 v6 is supposedly much improved but I don't think Hyundai engines are the most reliable.

The metal shavings from the factory was found to be an excuse as their 4 cylinder engines from 2011 to 2019 had cranks seize from worn bearings, owners like myself received a lifetime warranty on the engines if failure is from worn crank bearings, Hyundai modified the knock sensor sw to pickup noisy bearings, so far my engine is ok but starting to use some oil.
