So in my diesel 5g Ranger I had a Polly ARB 140L tank that would get me up to 1600km in a single fill, it was phenomenal range. I was a bit concerned that the new petrol 6g was going to be severely limited by having a 80l tank (still on its first tank, but on track for only 450km ?). It turns out that two Australian manufacturers have just recently released 140L petrol tanks.

http://thelongranger.com.au/ford/rangerraptor/2022-nextgen/tr98 - is available through ARB and comes in an armoured heavy duty version

https://www.browndavis.com.au/ford-...022-present-replacement-long-range-fuel-tank/ - is sold through TJM.

my friend has the longranger product on his Landrover and already has corrosion marks, scuffs and other signs of good use, I intend on Rhino coating mine for a bit better durability agains scuffs and the inevitable grounding that comes with 4WDing.

ā€˜Did a long range tank ever come out for the US market?

18 Gallons, is that it? I am surprised that the US market isn’t flooded with long range tank options

Me too but it is really difficult to go through a whole tank without passing a fill station, unlike some parts of Australia. Even in the most remote parts of the US you aren't that remote- just less crowded

You really have to pay attention to how many miles it is to the next gas station, I've almost been caught out.
A proper long range tank would be nice.

The only possible concern at this time is will the chassis be different for the US compared to australia? This is the case with the 5th gen ranger. I have learned already

I thought the same thing when i got my new ranger, 18 Gallons is it? Hell, my old ranger had a 19.5 gallon tank. If you look under the truck there is enough room for a little bigger tank. At least 3 or 4 gallons.

Agree. Took a cross country trip a few months ago and there were points where it was 300 miles to the next station. If I did a cross country trip in this truck I might consider throwing a decent sized gas can in the bed just for the oh shit moments.

Where were you where there was 300 miles between gas stations? I've never seen more than 100 miles anywhere - and I've been to a lot of the US.

I’d have to trace out where we were but I believe it was somewhere either along the 20,30,or 40 lol. It was only at one point but I remember us not topping the Colorado off the night before and we had like 3/4 of a tank and made it to the next possible gas station on fumes. Low fuel light was on for about 45 minutes. I did a quick calculation and remember arriving at close to 300 miles or thereabouts. I could have overestimated but I remember being really surprised and thinking how the hell would anyone do this with an electric vehicle. Maybe we missed a stop but I wasn’t able to find one on my phone.

We must have missed a station early on I’m thinking. I tried looking it up and found some people showing some 160 miles stretches in Nevada. Anyway next time I’ll bring a spare gas can for when I miss a stop lol.

I am pretty sure the fuel tank size in the US is heavily restricted by the freedom committee
They want us non mobile and all living in our predetermined utopian communities where we wait for our artificial meat and water rations. You just wait, one day it’s coming. I pray just not in my kids lifetime. ?

The biggest issue with the small tank is when your towing. Even a medium size travel trailer will have your mileage. It will cut your range down to 150 miles. There are places you don't pass a station!

I'm with you and use a 5-gallon can, but even 5 gallons isn't that much extra. This one has a one-inch hose and I probably should have gotten the 5/8" they make to possibly use directly with our capless system.
