Hey machinst85 thanks for the input. I'm looking at removing the stock tank and putting the fuel cell in the bed to help the rear suspension performance. I'm wondering if I use the stock pump if I need it at the same height as the current location for it to work properly or what my options are.
Depending on height differences etc you could get a flange machined to accept the stock fuel pump assembly. You are going to have codes either way unless you’re able to make it seal up like stock.

Ok so what I learned is that

1) the stock pump assembly has the sending unit integrated into the assembly.
2) the stock pump assembly is designed to have the top of it exposed on top of the fuel tank with fittings for hoses
3) I would need to cut a hole for the stock pump assembly to fit into my fuel cell and put an adapter plate to have it sealed.
4) if I chose to run an external in line fuel pump I would need.to make sure that my sensors arent throwing a code like my fuel pressor sensor

Here's a pic of the stock fuel pump assembly and an example of an adapter to seal it on the fuel cell
