Hey @Msfitoy, How good is your relationship at your dealer?

I just had a rear interior seat replaced in my 90k 2015 Ford Transit Connect. It was STUPID expensive (over $5k) and I'm way past 3/36 and Ford helped out a lot, the dealer helped out and I pitched in too.

My point, if you have a good relationship with your dealer, they can chat with Ford and get everything taken care of. Known of Unknown issues, a little bit of relationship with a dealer can go a long way!

I would recommend my dealer, but I think you are a bit too far away.

The 10R80 begin shipping in the F150 in 2017. Starting in 2018, the F150 came with a "massive" heat exchanger located at the front of the transmission. See this video at the 4 minute mark.

Yeah, it heats the transmission faster at startup. I think that's also when they stopped selling a separate transmission cooler in the tow package; they must have figured out that it wasn't necessary to have that much cooling even for max tow (on an f150--way past the point that other things would be breaking off of a ranger)?

Well, it is pretty common knowledge that this transmission doesn't like to be cold, so it kind of makes sense to me.

Given that they started it in 2017, I was curious, so I looked up F-150 sales numbers:

That is ONLY F-150s which means there are almost 5 million F-150s with this transmission, let alone the Explorers, Rangers and other vehicles. If there were a significant design flaw in this transmission, I would fully expect that in 5+ million units it would be apparent.

To be fair, it wasn't until 2021 that all f150s got the 10 speed; from 2017-2020 there were a mix of 6 and 10 speeds. But that doesn't change the fundamental point that there a heck of a lot of them out there, and getting the vapors over one failure is silly at best.

that's just an added bonus. the fluid really doesn't like to be cold (which is why it's basically never much below 200--if it was, the engine would be warming it up).

Ooooh round about 7 months ago they started trying to sell us their intake/T.B spacers.

The dyno sheets they provided in the thread were for a different motor, in a different vehicle.

They got called out for the aforementioned shady AF marketing technique and An individual offered to let them use his truck to do dyno-tests with... to which they replied "oh Hai thanks bro we have our own truck to do the tests with"


Months and months go by..


They still havnt shown us any dyno sheets pertaining to their products on a Ranger.



Ill just say it.. boomba is a complete joke. I'm willing to bet their R&D department is one guy doing his best to copy the products of REPUTABLE companies, changing them just enough to not get sued.

I was supportive of the outfit initially.. but after 6 months of their obvious lack of effort to actually show us what their product does on our vehicle.. I realized the nothing more than your run of the mill shyster factory.

Hahaha right on, I didn't click on the link. I'm very supportive of 'the other boomba' as it turns out.


That being said, THIS boombas seemingly willful refusal to provide actual data on whatever their products do to our trucks.. coupled with their misleading/shady/downright dishonest marketing SHOULD be enough for anyone to revoke their sponsored seller status and tell them to kick rocks.

Now.... THAT being said.... this site wasn't formed for the honorable purpose of providing a space for like-minded enthusiasts to enjoy all things ranger.. (like the ranger station was) This site was formed for the sole purpose of revenue generation... so... they'll be allowed to stick around and continue to lie and try to sell us their hack-tier products for as long as they keep paying for their seller status.

But that brings me to the terrible ads allowed on YouTube... Kamikoto Knives, Established Titles,

Well I've been EXTRA hard on mine and at 93K she still sings. I'm thinking if I want to have a long life with my Ranger tranny....(+150K) I at least might want to change the valve body and the pan. If I can get an extra gallon of fluid in there to keep her cool and freshen up the meat of the operation maybe she'll run good for a long time. I really don't have any plans to swap out my Ranger for several more years. At that rate I'll be close to 200K. I'm definitely not panicking....or worried about it.

I would recommend my dealer, but I think you are a bit too far away.

It's likely at least 200$ a year to be a sponsored seller, and this site has 18 of them now.


The owner of this site owns at least a handful more as well.. so between simple advertisements and paid sponsors... these websites are a pretty lucrative operation for whoever it is.... and that's all they think of it.
