Not sure about the non-FX4 rears, but the best $200 you can spend on an FX4 is to replace the rear shocks with Bilsteins or Eibachs.

I did the Bilsteins in the rear of mine first and was so impressed with the improvement that I now have them on front as well.

My truck rides and handles (IMO) great right now.
Gotcha, thanks. I'm sure I'll be looking into these in the future. I thought about getting an FX4 but I decided I really didn't need it as I most likely won't be doing much intense offroading, so an open rear diff is fine for me. I'm more interested in the bed utility and towing.

Could always put a locker in it in the future

Non-FX4 needs the upgrade too. I love my Bilstein 5100s on all 4 corners - a pleasure to drive and about $400. If I was going to do it again, I’d do Eibach or Fox 2.0 for the pre-assembled coilovers and easier labor.

Edit: Saved about $650 this way though

I pretty much have the same truck as what you’re looking at. 2020 XLT Sport with blackout package and 301A. Mine is a Super Cab though. I do not have a locker and it did not come with the FX shocks. Whatever the shocks are I don’t have the “roll” of the truck.

I got Forscan and changed up all the stuff I wanted tweaked for my preferences and added the TM selector switch so I can get the extra 4X4 Trail Control modes that are absent with our package. In the 2 years of ownership have not once said to myself, wish I had a locker.

Pics please and a list of mods you plan to do- damper is not acceptable even though you had to ask the wife for permission so you probably carry her purse... ya you need the damper. :p
Not true we have our own. o_O:oops:

I suspect the improved feel of your suspension is due to being a SuperCab. My non-FX4 Super Crew threw my kids around in back and had them asking what was happening -at slow speeds it would occasionally become a bucking bronco upon hitting a bump. I could never replicate it intentionally, but sometimes the Ranger would go nuts.

I should note that it was not all the time but enough that it disturbed me. @Trigganometry

that far under invoice and you think it will still be there Friday? i would at least put some money down to lock it up... I can't believe your market is that slow as it can't be that much of a unicorn it seems like a pretty common bild.

Congrats in advance if it's till there!

And as others have said might as well keep the wallet out and welcome aboard the money train, first tstop damperville!

Well we agreed on the price and made an appointment Friday morning to go buy it. I did ask him if he needed any money to hold it and the sales manager said no. He said they’d hold it until Friday but not until the new year. I guess we'll see if they're a stand up dealer or not. They want it on this year’s books.

EDIT: Just talked to the salesman and he said he put a 'not for sale' sign in the truck.

I did the rears first an I think it's the best $206 I ever spent on the truck. I did the fronts a few months later an I didn't notice much of a change. If I had it to do over I would have gone with Fox coil overs up front. I lived in a condo with a curbed entry. It wasn't flush with the road an the ranger would roll like a ship in a storm when I left, turning as I went over the curb.

Congrats an enjoy the truck.

Well, I didn't get an FX4, but I assume it still applies? XLT 301A. I probably won't do much to it until it's paid off.

Have an appointment at 9:30am on Friday to buy it.
Congratulations and the only way you won't do much until it's paid off is to just buy a DAMPER and get away from this forum...LOL Take pics we are all drooling to see it! It's like when someone in the family gets a new baby we got to see the pics ASAP.

Too bad I saw your post only just now. Where in VA? Central? I just bought a 2022 XLT from a place not far from where I live and there is another 2022, Cactus Gray XLT, 5,172 miles priced at $34,965. When I first started reading the thread, I thought it was that one, but after you said they took it off of the "sale lot", I guessed it isn't. This one is still up on the website, priced a bit lower than what you had said.

EDIT: Although, you could show them the link to this one and ask them if they'd match the price.

I'll post details as soon as I have the truck home. I'm probably being overly cautious but I had a Mustang sniped from me by a forum member 10 years ago or so when I made a similar post, and I don't want that to happen again. I will confirm it's a brand new truck. Can't wait to post pics though!

Are these the shocks folks recommend for the rear? Would only replacing the rear shocks throw some sort of factory suspension tuning out of whack?

Might go ahead and order a set once I have the truck in hand. And the modding begins...
