First wanted to order a Maverick but waited too long.

Went home to research and the Ranger what highly rated, and the most payload and tow capacity for the cheapest price.

Very, very happy it worked out this way - I always smile when I catch a glimpse of it out the window (lol, so much love that it can be 3 in the morning and up for a pee and I'll open the blinds to look at it!). =D

Well,

Trying to find a Tacoma below MSRP in Colorado is like trying to find a C-Clip that flew off the back of a Subaru Wastegate. Add in USED Tacomas going for over NEW, in early 2022, and that went out the window quick.

I'm also a tuner at heart, so having the 2.3 Econoboom was a blessing in disguise. Truck made it 4 months before getting tuned

Finally, I qualified for X Plan through my work, so I got a NEW unit for below MSRP, with my additional $750 rebate for New College Grad

So, all in all, it was a stars align kind of deal.

Plus, the dealer paid over and above what I still owed on my Audi at the time so that was a win

Got rid of the Tacoma to get this '22 XLT.

+ comfort in the Ranger over the Taco
+Better gas mileage in the Ranger
+better handling
+more power (insert Tim the toolman grunt)
+better interior
+looks better over the Taco

The Taco engine I believe is a rock solid engine.....the 6-speed tranny is garbage. Total garbage. Love my Ranger and puts a smile on every time I drive it!

At least they are not pushing sex to sell. I never would have know she was built like that. Not that it affects my purchasing decisions.

You've not heard the phrase " hidden talent(s) " plural because there are more than one. D

A guy in my neighborhood owns two parking lot princess Tacoma TRDs. I didn’t want to be like him.

I test drove a Hilux (The Aussie equivalent to your Tacoma) and hated it. Bad seating and $15k more at $75kAud. For a base model. Drove the ranger and loved it. The 3.2 litre turbo Diesel engine had plenty of grunt and it was so comfortable to drive.
I paid $60kAud for a 2021 shadow black XLT with spray in bedliner, black alloys and chrome roll bar.
The ranger has also won Australia’s most popular dual cab in 2019 and 2020.
Every second dual cab you see on the roads here in Oz are Rangers.

I started out to buy a Tacoma know several guys that have them and they all love em so I figure why not. Then I drove one. Yep gutless if I had to put up with that I would keep my 99 Ranger. The interior pieces like the door handles and shifter and all that kind of stuff felt cheap. It just underwhelmed me. Drove down to the Ford dealer drove a new Ranger and ordered one just like I wanted. Glad I did yeah the Ranger isn't perfect but it ain't bad at all.

I had a Tacoma TRD Pro with manual transmission in mind when I traded the Colorado ZR2 in on the Ranger Tremor. Why did I get the Ranger? Well, the Tacoma was a unicorn and unavailable at the time and the Ranger was on the lot and the price was one I could not pass up.

My next vehicle will likely be a Bronco 2door Black Diamond with the manual transmission unless the 2024 Ranger is offered with a manual transmission, then maybe another Ranger.

Sister had a Ford Focus for 11 years, I had an Escape for 12 years, parents had a Ford or two back when we were real little. Suffice it to say, Ford has been good to our family, and since they were the only N.Am.-based company to weather the sub-prime-mortgage recession without a government bailout, I didn't spend a whole lot of time looking at other brands.

I've had a Taco and several Mazda's and Ranger's and Dakota's even an Isuzu (Colorado/Canyon) before so when I was looking at a new Mid size pickup I thought the New Ranger looked the best, I decided to check it out however when I did look at one and was told it only came in a 4 cylinder I was skeptical but took it for a test ride any way...After that test ride I was sold!!! Drove it home that day and have had no regrets!!!

I take it that what you call "dual-cabs" are what we in N.Am. call a "crew cab" (i.e. four-doors & adequate seating for 5)?
