Do I need tailgate dampers?

You don't need a tailgate dampener, it's kind of a preference thing. I'm sure since ford skipped adding one that it should be fine after repeatedly being slammed down. I got this one and enjoy having it. Super easy install too.

I don’t really have anything against dampers. I’m sure if I had ever had one, I would want one on my Ranger. But, you know…it’s just one more thing to wash!

Aside from the constant banter on here over the damper, I honestly do really like mine.

Very handy to just pop the handle and let the tailgate drop.
