Ok, i never had this noise on my 2020 xlt 4x2 Ranger.
I have a 2022 xlt fx2 Ranger. There is a clicking sound coming from the module circled in the picture. Sounds like a relay clicking on and off. Only does it when i am listening to the radio engine off key in the accessorie position.
What is that module? Why is it clicking?
The arrow points to the cabin air filter. Just discovered the radio can play with the key not in. And clicking has stopped. So, now I know how to make the clicking stop, but, what is it and why does it click in the acc mode. Does not click with engine running. No problems, with vehicle. Just a curiosity, before i start ripping apart the truck.

Telematic Control Module

  • The Telematics Control Unit gathers data from the car, such as position, acceleration, engine data, connectivity quality, and so on, by connecting with various subsystems in the vehicle via data and control buses. The Telematic Control Module ( TCM ) is normally found behind the dash, in the center of the car.

Funny I just heard this same incessant clicking sound only 2 days ago after 1.5 yrs of ownership. I was listening to radio but with key and engine off.

I believe it is the TRM (trailer module).
Recently someone said that he heard clicking behind the glove box caused by the fresh air inlet valve motor.

Dapakatack, the module you speak of appears to be the module more posterior of the outside of the vehicle. The module i have circled appears to be more anterior, or more medially between the said module and skin of the truck. Just soinds like a relay turning on and off. Weirdest little click. I can feel it actuating qhen i touch it. So its that small wierd module. Not the one that says ," scrap if dropped" a little sensitive is it?

It's the trailer brake module. Not sure why it would be clicking though. Unless you were resting your foot on the brake pedal causing the brake lights to come on.

Our US Rangers don't have an integrated TBC module. The Ford OEM or RedArc ones are installed under the panel below the steering wheel. Maybe it's used for trailer lighting? Or maybe it's the Transfer Case control?

I believe this has the relays for the 4 pin trailer plug as well as the wires ran under the steering column for the RedArc to connect to. Ford isn't always the greatest when it comes to naming their parts.

I tried to look for that module in the posted online manuals HERE, but the files for 4x4 system and transfer case are empty.

The TRM (trailer module) is for trailer lighting to the 7 pin trailer connector only. The wiring diagram does not show any relays in the TRM. If you have only the 4 pin trailer connector, the trailer lighting relays are in the BJB (battery junction box) and doesn't use the TRM as far as I can tell from the Ford wiring diagram.

Take it the dealer for diagnosis. Could be an air damper actuator. Have them look at it.

Sounds like someone has medical training.

If true, I have this pain in my side, but only when i watch tiktok videos for hours at a time....any idea what may be causing it?
Its the nerd in me coming out. When i am not busy doing caveman things, and something like this peaks my curiosity, the nerd comes out lol. Did xrays for a while. The only medical training i got in the military was...
Tourniquet around the neck stops all bleeding! Lol. Go infantry. ?

I just started having this issue. I found this on youtube which is helpful but the actuator is very very hard to get to unless you have tiny hands. My 2020 ranger also has a white tube that has a string connecting the glove box which makes it even harder to get to the screws.
