All that oil you see is blow by past the piston rings. Venting crankcase pressure to atmosphere hasn’t been a thing since like the 60s for obvious emissions reasons. Hence your pcv system.

Here are some pics. This white sweat band was installed on 9/4/22 following an oil change

Thanks for the pictures. Do you actually notice any different other than the increase maintenance?

Why do you want to put something on your engine that you have to put a sock on, to keep it from spraying your engine with oil?

Maybe it will keep the mice out from under the engine cover.

I have the UPR valve on my truck for 6 months now. I clean out the washable filter once every couple of months and keeps oil spray to a minimum.

It’s important to note that the design of the valve is such that it only vents excess pressure once max air flow is being sucked from the valve cover into the intake tract at WOT. Meaning the turbo is pulling air in as hard as it can and there is still pressure waiting to exit the valve cover only then will it push out of the one way check valve and into the atmosphere.

The UPR check valve is serviceable too via C-clips but no issues so far with it getting stuck or anything like that.

I put it on to try and help keep my UPR catch can from filling up frequently. I also noticed that with the engine running and taking the oil cap off, there was a ton of pressure coming out of the hole. This vent has a ping pong ball looking thing in it that floats and when there is pressure it pushes up and releases the pressure. IDK if it helps anything but its on there since 1000 miles on the motor.

Any change in engine behavior or benefits you noticed?
No problems, tuned by Unleashed, little oil mist on the engine, corrected with terry cloth wrist band.

Why are we even still talking about this? Yes it doesn't have CARB certification so they won't sell to California. But, it is against federal law to modify or disable emissions equipment. Any state that does testing will not pass this.

Are we so hungry for any imagined bit of HP? I'm pretty sure any gains from this are so small as to be within the limits of testing variability. The same could probably be said for the manifold and TB spacers from Boomba. But at least those are legal.

Maybe we should go back to the old road draft tubes, so we can have those nice oily streaks down the middle of the lanes. Yes I'm old enough to remember them.

So, no problems, NO benefits! Just oil on the engine. WHY?

It is clearly sold and bought by many people. That is why I started this thread. Just curious if there was any concrete evidence as to why. I understand how silly this actually is. My powerstroke actually had a road draft tube.... It was highly modified.

I too would like to see evidence this does anything. I quess it is the engineer in me, 45 years working on converting equipment. What problem is this trying to solve? What quantifiable improvement is this giving? What other issues is it creating? What is its purpose in life, besides separating me from my money and allowing me to say "I got this!".

For those with this mod I’ve found the cheapest terry cloth wrist band option with the best fit is a kids size 1in x 2.4in, found in a 12 pack here on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/COUVER-Kids-...weat+wristbands+1in,aps,169&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1

The breather element is 1in tall by 3in wide, so with the wristband stretching some by nature of its design it should be a perfect fit. Change it out equivalent for less than $1.50 monthly.
