Ok. So far it sounds like I will be signing my name for the XLT 302A FX4 package truck and no running boards. This dealership upped my trade in $500 more so we might be golden. And I had intentions of getting the non-FX4 truck tomorrow morning but might be doing this today, here now.
the question is do you need or want the Terrain Management System?

I did not. I am more than capable of driving off road without the "off road cruise control". Most of the enjoyment of "off-roading" is actually driving off road - not sitting there and only steering. IMO of course.

Besides the rear locker, everything else can be added on a Saturday.

I really don't "need" it or really have big plans to off-road in it. Nothing near it's limits. But I do enjoy the package itself. The bash plate alone is around $400 on fordparts.com. Also might help with resale having a truck with the package on it.

But I am also glad this dealership is hoping my trade in value.

Your decision of course, just giving my opinion as requested....

I never even think about resale when buying anything. Means nothing to me since I keep stuff until it is no longer fixable.

The front "bash plate" is not on my add list. Just undercarriage skids.....

I had a piece of rebar end up in my gas tank before......

The running boards interfere with ground and side clearance. After bending and breaking several running boards I went without them on the Ranger.

Just depends on how much off-roading you plan to do. Running boards aren't compatible with serious offroading.

So close trying to make a deal on one of two XLT302A SuperCrews.

Msrp is almost identical. What should I settle on? I like the running boards for my kid to use to hop in. I love the front steel bash plate vs the air dam look. Locking rear adding on with the running boards or FX4 package and no running boards?
Get the FX4. I also love the front steel bash plate--and hate air dams! If you don't get FX4, there will come a snow day etc. when you will wish you had it! That being said, you can always add runners aftermarket--or wait for your kid to grow into the vehicle....

Another vote for the fx4. Not interested in the factory running boards. They hang down too low for my taste. Aftermarket is they way to go for running boards/rock sliders

I'd vote for the FX4 too - Although I like the look of the running boards, they tend to accumulate a lot of mud and snow really easily. I had them on my last Ranger and didn't use them much but spent a lot of time cleaning them up.

Do it... Literally anything else can be added, the electronics are (currently) factory only. I really liked the snow/ice mode this winter.

Thanks everyone for the kind help. J actually didn't realize the 302A FX4 also had the technology package. I bought that truck thinking what I listed was the only differences, and didn't even see the technology package until I noticed I had all the tech goodies. Blis, AEB, adaptive cruise control, etc. Totally cool.

I'll introduce myself in the new members page.

Congratulations! Just an FYI, the black door frames between the front and rear doors are just stickers, that beautiful blue is underneath them. Some users have peeled them off and I personally like the look on the bright colored trucks.

I dont buy anything that I can add on myself and dont really need and dont want to fix later. The snow plow in front ie air dam can be removed. I am expecting some after market skid plates to be available some day. And I dont drive off highway like an idiot and rarely drive off the dirt road. Sitting in the back seat drinking wine while the truck is going on a dirt road is not my cup of tea. But, if you have money to blow then get all of the gadgets you want, Ford depends on you one upping your neighbor. LOL:giggle:

Luckily I have enough money to not have to constantly talk about how much money I'm spending or saving.

Really? I don't really care what people decide to spend their money on, or what kind of truck they want to get. But stuff like "if you have money to blow then get all of the gadgets you want, Ford depends on you one upping your neighbor" just makes people sounds like bitter dicks when someone else picked something different. (As though "one upping your neighbor" is the only possible reason someone decided to get what they did.)

And I'm curious to see if you can actually back up your claim that I'm "ripping on" people who talk about discounts or if you're just making shit up. All I can remember saying along these lines is that people should be happy with what works for them and not bash someone else's choices.

Near the end of this thread`approx page 4 https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/future-ranger-gets-a-diesel-powertrain-option-rumors.3402/ , you called another member who had a "discount" and sales opinion opposed to yours.... a Troll....You come off as a know it all whether you realize it or not.
