Programming additional intelligent keys

I ordered a couple of spare intelligent keys today. I have the two originals. I am hoping someone here might have the instructions on how to program the spares.

The info to program the My Key is in there, but here's what it says about programming spare keys. I know it can be done at home. I was able to program the same type of spares for my 2020 Escape.


"Programming a Spare Intelligent
Access Key (If Equipped)
See your authorized dealer to have
additional keys programmed to your
vehicle."

I saw that a bit earlier. I hope it isn't correct.

With fords at least pre 2018, you can program them yourself. However you need 2 original keys. I am sure googling how to do it on an f150 would work.

2020 Ranger manual says the same thing, "Take it to the dealer."

If you are feeling adventurous, you could try the Escape process that worked for you and see what happens...

On Ranger if you have a flip key for ignition switch, Then yes it can be done if you have two keys to perform the task. Provided the key itself has been cut to match. orignal.
I just added a spare last month. I believe you do both orignal keys by inserting keys one at a time just turning ignition key from off to on for three seconds each. Then within 10 seconds use new key from off to the on position. It will display on instrument cluster adding new key.
For Smart keys, I believe somewhere by console is an area to mount these keys for programming a new key.

I tried to program my flip keys using those steps (and many variations) with no luck. Seems some can do it and others cannot, probably related to options. Call around to locksmiths. I found prices from 50-150. Including key cut. The locksmith even tried the steps before using the computer. He was not able to make the steps work either.

If I'm not mistaken somewhere in the menu on the instrument panel that you use the left steering wheel buttons is a My Key option way down to the bottom of the the scroll down list. I think you can do a new key there. I'm not totally sure if never gone into it to see what it does, but I'm sure it's there.

MyKey is something you do with keys that are already programmed.

For Smart keys, I believe somewhere by console is an area to mount these keys for programming a new key.

As far as I know that is only the passive key location for starting your truck with a dead fob.

The best and easiest thing a person can do if they want to produce a new complete key, whether it’s a prox key or a switchblade, is to contact a trusted mobile locksmith in your area. He/she will come to you and do the whole process and hand you the new key. Don’t buy these blanks on eBay that don’t even have Ford emblems on them lol.

UPDATE!! I rec'd the two new FOBs that I ordered off of eBay a few days ago. I was going to take them to the locksmith this morning to have them programmed. I was about ready to back out of the garage, but decided to see if I could program them myself using the same directions that I used on the 2020 Escape.

SUCCESS on the first try with both spare FOB's. No dealer or locksmith required!!
