Honestly, this forum is the first that I have heard of a COVP. I never asked my dealer about COVP orders before and after placing my order. I received Order Confirmation on 8/15 and I received a Production Date of 10/17 this morning. I was given priority code 19 as well. Maybe they submitted it (as in COVP) and I am just aware? But no paperwork or confirmation regarding a COVP was sent my way. I don't think there is any rhyme or reason as to when production dates are assigned, IMO.
Yeah, in one of Tim Bartz videos he says they don't send it to you, you have to ask for it from your dealership.
I even posted somewhere in these forums where Ford on their website says to ask your dealership about COVP if awhile has passed and Ford hasn't sent any progress emails regarding your build.
I'm sure most dealers just do COVP like they are supposed to.
I read more concerns about this in the Maverick forums. Myself, I wanted to know that my order actually got approved by Ford.
I did this because I have an earlier order that I got an email from Ford saying was placed. But that order will not move forward for me because I never did COVP with that dealer. Long story.

Oh, I should also mention that I think COVP has only been in place since Ford found out dealerships were making orders in people's names just to bring inventory in to their dealership.
Then Ford put in place the COVP, which includes the email address of the actual buyer, an ID of the buyer, and I think a signed buyer's order.
But I'm not totally sure.
I just know COVP was started not too long ago for Ford to verify the orders were really being made by real people.
Ford wants orders by real people to get priority over dealer stock. So, the way I understand it, dealers were placing orders in people's names just to get some stock on their lot that they could markup to get more for.

Yeah, not to beat a dead horse here, but you think a company that's been around for 120 years would be a bit better about clear lines of communication between them and the customer. Why they're not forthcoming about timelines, delays, and the general order process is beyond me. We don't need to do everything, but at least give us all of the steps/paperwork involved and tell us what you know and what you don't know.

Have any of you who got your VIN today tried entering it into the tracking site with your order number? When I tried, it says my VIN and/or order number are invalid.

Guess I need to start watching my email. August 4th order. I'm assuming the a COVP was submitted because my dealer asked for my license and a signed copy of the DORA. I received my order confirmation shortly after I gave them that.

well, from what I’ve heard, all scheduling is done on thursdays. So if you didn’t get anything today it’ll be another week.

I asked my dealer...he said we can't track it until it is built. Seems weird since the email included a Track Order link. Oh, well.....nothing to track for now anyway.

Nope not necessarily. They schedule on Thursday but you could receive notice as late as Saturday evening. I know this from following the Bronco scheduling. In fact the Bronco order I had that was scheduled I didn't get notification until mid day Friday. Had to walk away from that order due to a dealer screw up.

I called Ford customer service this morning. The rep said we absolutely should be able to track our order once we have a VIN. She confirmed my order and production info and said she would escalate the tracker issue.
Having been through this earlier this year all I can tell you is the tracker is sketchy at best. Get used to it working one day and not the next. No amount of complaining to Ford will change things about it. Or so the pattern has been in the last 12 months. I’m sure others will back me up on this.

And here is a good visual of dealing with the tracker

Thanks. I wasn't complaining to Ford....just curious why it wasn't working.

No problem, just trying to save everyone some aggravation. Hopefully things will change and someone will update you all. But I wouldn’t hold my breath.
