Engine Cover TSB 21-2147 Warranty Voided

Does it matter if the engine cover was installed by the owner vs the dealer? I know this is an incredibly easy install, I installed mine in 2 minutes when I bought my truck even before the TSB was released since I just thought it looked nice.

My concern would be if I did brick my head from water in the plugs, would Ford honor my warranty if a dealer didn't install the part? I know sometimes they are weird about this stuff.

The original thread disappeared - for good reason(?). The T6/5g has been around since 2012 in both diesel and gasoline versions - no one has heard of this issue until recent days for some odd reason.

That's because our US 5G Ranger is not the same as ROW 5G/T6 Rangers. As far as I know, ROW Rangers don't get the 2.3 Eco.

Gasoline motors have been available. DOHC motors with recessed plugs (the norm)? Either way, 5g is going into its 4th year of distribution in North America.......

My 2022 Lariat did not come with one, as has been covered by others here.

So are we saying adding the cover is required by Ford to avoid voiding warranty, but even with it installed, it doesn't prevent water from collecting and causing the problem??

I may have misread one of these comments at some point.

Either way, it looks better with the cover installed, so I hopefully just ordered the right one on sale for $56... though shipping certainly offset any savings. Does anybody know what hardware is needed, if any, to go with the cover?

ALTHOUGH, knowing that it was my 2nd cousin "deceased" that was conversing about the engine covers, methinks as he was a bigot, and prior to his demise, he MIGHT have been referring to the KKK. I am surmising it's a 50-50 chance of being correct until a concerned forum reader gets back and gives us the skinny on part 2 of the warranty.

Okay nobody has explained how water gets to top of the engine. Maybe that is the problem.

Thank you both... in a rush, I threw the two "frequently bought with this item" products in the cart with my cover thinking they were the studs and nuts... turns out I ordered the threaded studs (correct for cover installation) and what turns out to be some bolt for the water pump ?‍... I will seek out the engine cover nuts by part# and pay the obligatory $8 for shipping 30 cents worth of hardware- which I deserve for that fudge up.

One day I will prove my competency to this crew. ?But not today... not today.

Knowing my luck, I'll likely end up with no cover, one of two required threaded inserts and a useless mounting bolt for a water pump. I'm 20% there... sounds like a win to me! Nailed it ?

No. I just logged in to check order status... threaded studs "in stock"... engine cover "-". Not gonna hold my breath based on what I'm hearing from everyone else here.
