I noticed the sticker in the door frame states that the recommended tire pressure is 35 psi. Well I set up my Fordpass yesterday and when I logged into it it's telling me the tires are at 48 psi?! I checked it manually and sure enough that's where they are set. I just bought the truck so I'm hesitant to let out air thinking that surely Ford knows how much air to put in the tires? Would appreciate some feedback as to how much (if any) air I should let out of the tires. Thanks in advance.

See all the postings here about over inflation at delivery. They come that way from the factory and the dealer is supposed to adjust them to recommended pressure, but it seems like most get delivered to the customer over inflated.

Edit: Tires should be inflated to what is shown on the door sticker (35psi in your case).

I would also check your windshield washer fluid, several of us also found very little fluid

Piss Poor PDI by your FORD dealer. There have been many that haven't been dropped to proper pressure and fluid levels filled. Go w/ the door sticker.

Thanks for the responses. Anyone know why the factory over inflates the tires? Seems like this could all be avoided by them actually filling the tires to the pressure that they are recommending, lol.

They overinflate for shipping.

Congrats on your new truck.

Just to re-iterate what the others have said - go by the PSI rating on the door sticker. The tires are over inflated for shipping purposes. To prevent getting flat spots from sitting in one place for long periods... being transported, sitting on dealer lots, etc.

I actually under inflate mine due to air expansion with heat. When cold, set at 32psi. When hot, they are 35psi.

AND the value on the sticker is COLD pressure, so it will increase some when they warm up.

Great thread!

I had the same question. It seemed crazy that my tires were inflated to 47psi when my door sticker says 30psi when cold. It felt like I was driving on basketballs for tires. It also made the truck unstable when driving over bumps.. the rear end would hop and move enough I had to correct it with steering

The sticker PSI is for COLD tires. If you set at 32psi cold you are running your tires UNDER INFLATED.
I've ran all of my tires on all of my vehicles below spec and have had no issues with treadwear.

If the plate on door says cold pressure is 30 psi why is he running under inflated at 32 psi

from context I assumed he had one of the trucks where the door sticker says 35. (different builds have different tires.)
