Carplay issue (question)

I thought the whole purpose of CARPLAY is to keep people off their phones. In my Ranger CARPLAY disables many of the features while I am driving, so I then have to use my phone.

Example: Listening to music, I can skip tracks, forward/back. But cannot skip artists/folders. They are ghosted out.

Am I missing something here? Can I disable this stupid feature?
