Our 6/2020 build bumpers look like they had a blowout

We also have white rings that OP does not have. Anyone know what these are for ?

Another item for the deleted list ?

Lucky you get bump stop support rings, i bet you also have 6 tie downs in your bed too, lol yeah they stopped putting these on at 8$ a piece a cost saving measure nobody would notice.

I suspect whether you get the white ring or not is which bin they are pulled from as my 2022 FX4 has them, BUT, no middle bed tie-downs or hood struts, so…. :)

Edit, changed from "weather" to "whether", it wasn't my fault! :)

So, just had to get under there and see exactly what my setup looks like. The OCD got the best of me. No bed tie downs in center but I got the rings! Looks like the dimples is part of the mold form and not reject parts by what I have seen so far!

After examining it a little closer you can see where bump stop contacted the leaf spring. The pattern it leaves is saying that the cutouts are actually vents. If it were solid it would swell up and crack or pop like a balloon under high and fast loading conditions. Wonder how many engineering ideations were done before arriving at this design.

Yup you have bump stops. Might want to take them off and have the dealer fix those. Also fix your pinch welds they look like crap. What kind of vehicle has exposed pinch welds.

There is nothing wrong with your bump stops, they are just hunks of foam and long as they are present they are fine.

“Pinch weld” areas always look the same, kinda crappy. Yotas included. Same spot weld robots used by all the factories.

Try to just enjoy owning the most reliable mid-size on the market and don’t over analyze it too much.
Yeah you're right and I could never figure out why if robots are so exacting, why pinch welds like the bottom of the rocker panels, always look like a blind 3yo ran along them with a hand held spot welder. I can only assume that is deliberate because a random looking weld is actually stronger than one where they all neatly line up.

Yes that was my thought as well, the old KIa Sorento I used to own, despite having rear coils, had a similar setup bumpstop, and it had a central hole with a corrugated bottom surface , I assume for the same reason

I’m a plastics and rubber engineer and Just noticed both orange bumpers over rear springs are incompletely filled parts (bottom 1/3 is thin and missing in spots). I can understand how they accidentally got included with good parts at the molder (although it’s not a good sign) since during startup the tool and molding machine has to warm up and settle in. molded parts typically automatically ejected and collected In a box or container. But how can an assembly worker install something like this??? Both sides are bogus.

just contacted dealer to get them replaced, should not be an issue as they are obviously defective from factory. Never seen anything like this on my 2012 Tacoma or 2016 T4R. Ford needs to improve quality control. Pinch welds look like heck, too. Love the Ranger but wish Ford manufactured as well as Toyota. They charge enough for the product!

Well there Mr Rubbers and Plastics Engineer, I'm just a milkman, but even I know that's what they're supposed to look like.

One again arrogance and ingnorance.
