Love it.
Solid. Dependable. Fits precisely in the glove box. Bright as heck.
My big Maglite would be in this Ranger too, but it has the batteries corroded in the tube, can't get the end off. :( I have been putting off trying to get them out since I think it will not end well. Anyone else ever have this happen?

I had the batteries corrode in my 3 battery light. Read somewhere the lights were guaranteed for life, so looked up the address and sent it in. Got a scolding letter back to the effect never again, but they did fix the light. Google it and give it a try.

Thanks for the info Bob, I just looked up on the Maglite website. Unfortunately they exclude battery leakage from their warranty. I can't get the end off to check the battery type anyway, it will require some chemistry + brute force Macgyver action . A shame since a while back I installed an LED bulb conversion and it worked great. I heard someone somewhere say to try pouring coca cola in there and the phosphoric acid (that we so love to drink) will loosen it up. Wait til you get your first Electric Ranger, and the batteries do this!!

TEN YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY Mag Instrument, Inc. warrants to the original owner that this flashlight is free from defects in parts and workmanship for ten years from the date of first retail purchase. Mag or an authorized Mag Warranty Service Center will, free of charge, repair or, at its option, replace a defective flashlight or component. (Mag does not warrant the future availability of particular colors or decorations, and may replace a custom flashlight with a standard flashlight.) This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, express or implied.

EXCLUSIONS: This warranty does not cover any of the following: 1. Battery exhaustion; 2. Battery leakage; 3. LED burnout and/or LED module failure; or 4. Damage to or failure of the flashlight or any component thereof due to alteration, misuse, battery leakage or lack of maintenance.
HOW AND WHEN TO MAKE A WARRANTY CLAIM: 1. In case of battery exhaustion, do not return the flashlight to Mag, but replace the batteries. 2. If the flashlight has been damaged by leakage of batteries, do not return the flashlight to Mag, but determine what brand of battery caused the damage and follow the battery manufacturer’s instructions about how to make a damage claim.

Thanks for the update. Probably changed it after my claim years ago. They were not happy

i had that happen once also. i used one of those strap wrench things, similar to an oil filter wrench. put end in vise and gave it hell. finally got it all opened up and it was a mess. it cleaned up ok.

I just threw my LED Maglite away last week. The only good method I saw for getting the batteries out was using a lag bolt and a spacer. Put the bolt through the spacer, thread into the battery and use the tread to pull the corroded battery out. The first battery came out. The whole middle of the second battery came out but the shell stayed welded in. I'm done with Maglites.

In the past, if the batteries aren't too corroded, I poured a little white vinegar in, which dissolved the corrosion enough that I could just hit the end of the flashlight against a wood block and the batteries would come out.

I replaced it with some really bright thing that has a plastic battery carrier. It won't have the same issue.

The wax market is just an endless dragon tail people chase.

If you notice, you can still buy classic old wax in a tin can. You would think if that product would have been pulled from shelves years ago with all the stuff coming out, but its still there.

I'm pretty sure car wax has reached peak snake oil seller status at this point.

I bet the cost vs. MSRP is insane on that product market. Like $1.50 to produce and bottle, then sell it on the shelf for $24.99

I used it on my '06 Miata and was happy with it. Put it on thin. Buffs off easily.
