On March 17, 2022, at approximately 11:30 am, the Rayne Police Department responded to a single vehicle accident involving a 2011 KW tractor and trailer.

The vehicle was traveling east on Interstate 10 when for unknown reasons it left the roadway, drove down an embankment, crossed The Boulevard and came to rest on private property. The tractor caught fire and the Rayne Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene to extinguish the blaze. The driver of the tractor sustained minor injuries.

It occurred in Rayne, Louisiana.

As a third shift worker I have a sign my daughter made for me that states not to knock or ring the doorbell.

ANYTIME my doorbell rings I answer the door I packing, visibly.

Nothing scarier than a half asleep, bearded, redhead in his boxers with a pistol. I've yet to have one return.

Scary for sure. Maybe it is the Canadian in me, but I honestly can't understand the need to answer the doorbell carrying a gun. cops and bad guys don't usually knock, they just come on in. and if you ain't really gonna shoot the guy who is trying to sell a magazine subscription, then ya just look a fool standing there in your gitch.

I sleep very heavy. I don't wake up to a knock or a doorbell.

What do you expect when you wake somebody up in the middle of the night?

If you wake up to your two dogs raising hell as though there is something going on on your front porch are you just gonna open the door? Not me. I don't know what is going on out there. That's my most extreme "what if."

But most likely it's some fly by night roofing company, exterminator service, solar company, or some other asshole that didn't read the very specific sign on my door.

If I'm abruptly awoken from my sleep for no aparrent reason, and my dogs are going nuts, I'm grabbing a pistol to check it out. It's not my fault that assholes knocking on my door want to make it weird.

That would be my fault as I did say "anytime."

In my defense the assholes never show up at a reasonable time like 5 pm. It's always 1 or 2, right when I can't get back to sleep, leaving me to work on 3 or 4 hours of sleep.

The signage I'll blame on the kid, she was very proud of it, but I saw what you're seeing immediately. Gotta love the kids trying to help.
