I use CC all the time
And I am sorry to say despise those that don't! Maybe your story will give me a little tolerance for the CCunabled!
Why is bc whenever I come up on someone on the highway, obviously going faster as I caught up with them in the 1st place. But then as I get in a car length or two the rate of closure decreases until eventually they are matching my speed! And usually results in me be firmly in their blind spot. I punch it to pass and as soon as I get some distance between us. They start to rapidly drop back.
I am told this is an actual sub-conscious phenomenon. DRIVES ME CRAZY!
Simply using CC would remove their sub-conscious from the equation!

OK off to the highway for my drive home and a chuckle and some new patience as I try to pass the CCunabled! ?

If I'm cruising at 70 on the interstate, and someone comes within a car length behind me, I will intentionally slow down. Get any closer or flash your lights, you get a brake check. It irks me to no end when we have three lanes on the interstate and somebody gets on my tail because I'm doing the speed limit in the center lane.

My 2000 Focus wagon that we bought new started having CC problems in 2013. I think the problem was in the brake pedal deactivate circuit, as sometimes it wouldn't come out of CC. It finally quit working altogether and I just left it alone. Traded for a 2014 Focus 5dr the following year.

People do this to semis all the time. My company governed the tractors to 72mph. in a 70 mph or higher speed zone, I'd occasionally come up on some one doing ~67-69mph, and at 3-4 car lengths, I'd swing out to pass. Sure enough the driver woke up from their nap, finished their text or whatever and matched my speed. I'd stay out in the passing lane, as now there wasn't sufficient following distance to pull back in. I would back my CC down 1 mph to s l o w l y increase the gap and pull back in behind, and reset the cruise. They go back to their original speed and we start the whole process over, until they hold or decrease their speed and let me by, or get pissed and speed up to 90mph.
I played this "slinky" game fo almost 60 miles on I-80 in Nebraska one time until they exited.

I've always enjoyed using CC, and as I get older, with more ailments, love it even more. Able to position legs to prevent cramps etc.
Pet peeve is people who can't maintain speed. I try when I can't use CC, and succeed, but it requires more attention. I want to relax and cruise...
I've heard "stories" about not using CC in rain as if you hydroplane, you will die. I've never had a CC NOT kick off when hitting a puddle and hydroplaning. Can it happen, yes, but I would bet something malfunctioned to begin with.

I agree with the center lane slow down when being tailgated with an open left lane. But bad things can happen with a break test. Not all drivers are well hinged...

Agree - I am either already in the other lane or will change lanes to pass with a few car lengths to go.
Now if your in the fast lane I am not always so considerate, especially if you vary your speed a lot - ie not using CC!

While I wouldn't do either of those things, it irks me to no end when some asshat is cruising in the center lane for no damn reason.

Slower traffic is to yield right on a highway. If I'm approaching a car who is going slower than I and he is in the center lane I'm left with two choices. Pass on the right, which although legal, is not the safest thing. Or change lanes twice, less safe than a single lane change.

If you aren't passing somebody, get your ass to the right lane. It's very simple.

If being tailgated or flashed is a common occurrence for you, perhaps you are the problem.

Center lane campers are just as bad as left lane campers.

In my state it is law that on the interstate with two lanes, the left lane is far passing, and vehicles should stay to the right if not passing. I don't know if that means far right lane if there are 3 or more lanes.
I stay in the center lane at speed limit or higher when traffic is slower in the far right lane or there are vehicles merging. So, in a sense, I am passing. You'd still have the far left lane if you want to be in a hurry and drive 80 in a 70 zone. But there is one area of highway (not interstate) where the limit is 55, with 3 lanes wide. If you do 55, you're toast as most run 60-65. On that stretch (about 5 miles) I stay in the far left lane at 60-65 because my exit is from the left lane. If I stay in the right, chances are I'll never get to merge to the far left lane.

Sounds like you're doing it right. I thought you were talking about just cruising in the center lane for no reason. Which I see a lot around of here.

Don't get me started on left lane exits. The man who invented those should be shot.

Agoraphobia is the fear of not being in control.
Angoraphobia might be the fear of being seen in a super fuzzy charteuse sweater, or of being bitten by a Turkish rabbit or kitten.

Or both
