Kind of a relaxing day today. We went into downtown Durango just to relax and walk around and to see where we need to be tomorrow to catch the train up to Silverton. I had my first Buffalo burger today at Carvers Brewing Company which I think it was Doug @D Fresh recommended and it was a very good place to eat. Will probably try Tequilas after the train ride tomorrow night when we arrive back.

Durango is an older western town with some nice restored old hotels. This one called the Strater Hotel and has been fully restored. We were able to walk all through the first floor and being in construction my whole life I love looking at stuff like this as the detail back then was amazing. Notice all the detail and wallpapering on some of the ceilings.

T'wasn't me, my suggestion was up in the Black Hills.

I think I've eaten there before though and it was good. Buffalo is a good substitute for beef if you're trying to stay healthy, but it's a little lean for me usually.

Glad you're having a good trip.

<<EDIT>>[what he hasn’t admitted yet]

…some unique door closures. While not DeeZee, I appreciate the style and mounting technique…

Scott, I knew you'd like them! I figure maybe if I design something a little more appealing you'd finally get one. ? Now how do I convince that stubborn old curmudgeon Al @Texasota to get one.:angry:

That's right It was The Gaslight Dining Saloon there. I would've seen it next week when I checked my SD folder and will have to try it when there. Glad to hear you're finally getting your Ranger back!

Deadwood is touristy but worth it, to the left of Wild Bill’s saloon of fame is a great cigar shop downstairs check it out if that’s your thing. FYI I won a bunch of casino money at the hotel to right across the street from there.

Love the Black Hills!!!

Deadwood was the one spot we missed while up there. ?

The whole area was great though, I will be back someday. And I will try to find that shop.

Don’t forget your Harley friends and maybe pick up a shirt or two at the shop, priceless for them..

I hope so. lol Even if I don't take pictures my gf will take enough for both. Last time I looked she had over 6,000 pics on her phone.

I hope your mom is doing well Mark and the stress for yourself is easing up a little. We'll continue to pray for a speedy recovery!?
Surely your face is in one of those pictures… :p

Have fun Dave, stay safe!

Thanks Brandon. I thought about just leaving my truck dirty for the whole trip. No way you're seeing any reflection off of it now even with all that Graphene on it. lol ?

Dave, when in South Dakota.......go to Spearfish.......on Main St you'll see a gas station (the only one).....go west about 1/2 mile.......you'll come to an intersection with a Chevy Dealer on the NW corner......take a left and drive into the alley.......little Restaurant called Sanfords......very good food! Sorry I don't know the street names......just know how to get there!

After almost 12 months of planning the first leg of our month long journey begins today in Durango, CO which is about 475 miles. We’ll stop up in Flagstaff for breakfast and top off the tank then off to Monument Valley and Mexican Hat in Southern Utah. We’ve already stopped at Four Corners on our last trip up to Durango so we’ll skip it this time as it was nice to see once but not worth stopping again.

Of course we've both been fighting a cold this week and I can never sleep the night before a trip so it'll be an interesting drive. lol I would like to say thanks again to everyone who made suggestions in the other thread as it really helped in planning this trip. Especially the UT ones where it looks like there’s so much to do in Canyonlands NP between the park itself and the off road trails surround it. I also appreciate all the texts and PM’s in the past few days wishing us well along the way. :like: :fistbump:
Good luck and safe travels man! i am also extremely excited to take my new truck up north camping in 2 weeks. Praying my exhaust gets here this week before the trip :rockon:
