What a terrible article. It claims that Ford itself regrets releasing the Ranger, but provides no evidence at all to support that claim. Here is the extent of the article's criticism on the Ranger: "However, according to cars.com, it is important to note that this truck is immensely weak. It is honestly a shame, as this could have been a very solid addition for the manufacturer. Instead, it has been just awful." Lots of adjectives, completely subjective, zero evidence!

Wondering if that site is a satirical site. If you go through it Ford regrets discontinuing the ranchero and a few others didn’t see the pinto and they also are ashamed of the F250.

More hack journalism! Did the so called writer even drive the Ranger? Highly doubtful with a comment like this:

However, according to cars.com, it is important to note that this truck is immensely weak. It is honestly a shame, as this could have been a very solid addition for the manufacturer. Instead, it has been just awful.

Why would they regret making the Ranger, when they just released an SUV version of it called the Everest, in Asia? You can see a video of it on U Tube. Looks pretty good.

Everests have been around for years.

Rangers have been around for years in other countries. In San Diego, fifth gen Rangers are all over the place. I live by a Toyota dealership and never have one regret about my decision and the amount of power we can get out of our Rangers. I love this truck so much I will be going with Ford again as long as they keep up the good work. We also have a 2020 Ford Explorer XLT we bought with the 2.3 ecoboost. For some reason they granted it more power and torque than our Rangers. Next upgrade for both rides is a tune.

im not saying all but a good amount of auto reviewers, industry awards and publications (esp web pages) are nothing but fluff and paid advertisement mixed with several arm chair admirals and a key board. after all we are talking about the folks that coined the term "infotainment" and they paved they way to kill off cool stuff like v8 engines and manual transmissions. i doubt ford or any other maker regrets selling any model that turns a profit lol.

Heh, yeah, the Ranger has long outlived that first link, at any rate ;)

We love our Ranger - currently in the midst of numerous Toyotas, Rams, etc as part of an overlanding outing outside of Bodie, California. Wouldn't trade for any of them.

The unique combination of capacities, power and features make the Ranger an easy choice for people seeking that sweet spot in between weaker small trucks and large behemoths that can't make it around a turn in a parking lot, much less an off-road trail.

Oh, an I should note - installing a camera system to address the towing mirror complaint was actually fairly easy. We now have front/side/trailer cameras that we use constantly while traveling, and have long since ditched the add-on towing mirrors.

And so is the website that made those claims. I got a 404 error trying to access the article.

Nice variety of rigs you have there. What are you pulling? Ours is an OBi Dweller. Does it suck towing on the highway like ours does?
