Having owned both, in my opinion the XLT has a noticeable smoother ride probably due to the '17" tires.
I also like the XLT' s dash gauge set up much more.
The plus for the Lariat are the more options and features which to me is worth the extra cost.
Both are very nice, though.

You can get 17"s on a Lariat w/ sport appearance. LED headlights & fogs, touch-sensing doors, push-button start, and B&O are well worth the Lariat premium.

True but I do love my 18" Mag pocket option wheels. I can put up with the bit less smooth ride but I notice a difference. I'm running with 32-33 lbs air pressure which makes it fine.

Personally think your nuts. Everything about the Lariat is worth the price. Yomv

I have all the Lariat options plus on my XLT. Only difference is the leather seats that I don't like or wanted.
The sales man told me it came from the factory as a special order. The window options sheet confirmed it.

LMAO, I came from a 97 XL that was manual everything except the transmission. Crank windows, AM, FM radio with no cassette player ?

Looking at 2020 models it was between the XLT and Lariat. Went with an XLT SCAB Sport with blackout package. Wanted max bed size and all the extra bells and whistles just was not worth the extra 8K they were asking for. Not to mention the dash gauges were what I wanted too. That’s what aftermarket is for! Damper and all!!!

This alone is worth the jump to the Lariat. It's so nice to never have to take your keys out of your pocket, just get in and push the button! Yeah I know first world problems. lol

I initially was going to get a Lariat, but when I saw the dash cluster I thought there was no way I'm looking at that for the next several years.

Irrational, I know, but for me I couldn't stand it. I'm sure with a few thousand dollars of therapy I could get over it but in the meantime I'll just look at my XLT dash.

And then of course about a year after I bought mine the ability arises to put the XLT cluster into the Lariat. Story of my life.
