Wanted to post a few pics and give a short story around my new vehicle purchase.

I flew into Kansas City, MO on May 5th to take delivery of my new 2022 Transit 350 Passenger AWD Ecoboost. Purchased new from Gary Crossley Ford. Worked with Ed Bowers and Rusty Jardin over there. All the ordering and purchasing nightmares we are hearing about with other Ford products is even worse when you are dealing with something as rare as a passenger Transit. Long story short, Ed is the go-to Transit authority on the major Transit forum and he sells ALOT of these. He and Rusty are a top notch sales team and I couldn't be happier with my new family hauler. My van was dealer stock ordered by Ed in November 2021 and I put a deposit down on it in late December. It was built mid April but spent time waiting in a lot. The only option I would have added if I would have custom ordered was a power sliding door. Other than that it is exactly as I would have ordered.

I actually paid a bit under MSRP, no mark-ups or adjustments. These guys are great and I highly recommend them. Ed is the Transit authority and Rusty can sell you any Ford you want. The customer experience was first rate.

Drove 16.5 hours yesterday from KC to Maryland and didn't have a single problem. The ride and power of the van is great and the new 12" display is amazing.

Looking forward to many years of family trips in this Transit!

I know a few people who have these (windowless ones) and turned them into a conversion van. They really love them and have had many great trips with them. Enjoy your new ride and all your family trips! ? WIth all those extras seats you could pick up a few R5G members here along the way.?

The Transit Forum is 90% camper/overland conversion people. Not my thing but they do share some helpful stuff.
I will setup a Venmo for tickets to ride this bus.

Wow - that’s a lot of seats! By any chance, is your last name Derrico? ?

Even if all the seats aren’t needed, I can see how someone could remove a row and have room for tons of luggage/gear. Those huge windows are great - it’s like having your own private motor coach for family outings - nice!

That’s a very smart purchase, but you park like Paul (@OrangeStreak )

Not my park job! Those are pictures from the dealer. I haven't seen the van when it wasn't raining and dirty! It was a soaking wet drive and still raining here. I will get some of my own pics someday...

We won't need all of those seats. Only three of them have child seat hooks anyway. We will do like Duke says and remove the single third row jump-seat and maybe one set of the rear seats. We needed the room for Grandmas and our kids friends.

I'm one of those weird van conversion people. I am actually selling my Mercedes Sprinter right now as my Ranger is expected to arrive any day now. Was time for a downsize to more capable off-road vehicle. Though the Sprinter is equipped with 4x4 and I took it through some gnarly stuff!

The Ecoboost motor is so good though. I love the diesel in the Mercedes 4x4, but if the AWD Transit had been an option when I was shopping, it would have been a really tough decision for me. Congrats on the purchase!

spacers and some snazzy F150 wheels??
the steelies make it look like its a work van.
The options very limited on the AWD transit wheels. Black Steel, Gray Steel, or Aluminum. Gray and Aluminum don't look good against the Avalanche Gray. I actually like the black steelies. The tires are more of an all season with good shoulder blocks and look good on there.

That conversion crowd is different! I just listen over there and don't post much.

My only gripe with the Ecoboost is fuel consumption. Computer says I was averaging 14.8 mpg. Not terrible considering the size but still hard to afford. I ran around 77 mph the whole time but think I could have gotten above 15 mpg if I had slowed to 70 mph.

For sure. The efficiency really drops off fast above 70 with the big vans, especially in a head wind. I usually compromised as 75 on my max, unless it was super windy and then dropped to 70 for safety. Passing through Wyoming is no joke with a full size van. Makes it a chore to drive!

Just got home from summer vacation to Coastal North Carolina. Ran 70 - 74 mph and averaged 15.5 mpg. Van performed perfectly and we are so happy with our decision.
