Ordered a Lariat Tremor in January. Got the email today that it's been built. But I'm buying a Maverick instead.

EDIT: Dealer took my custom Maverick order and sold it to someone else. I had waited months for that truck. Then told me they were confused since I'd ordered two vehicles (a maverick and a ranger), and that it's my fault for confusing them, but i can still have the second one (the Ranger) when it gets delivered next month.

What the actual F. Three weeks ago when I spoke with the General Manager and told him I'd only be buying the Maverick, he told me he wanted to leave the Ranger order in the system because he could sell it off the lot anyway (because they couldn't get any of them on allocation from Ford). Did not seem like a big deal. The Ranger hadn't been built yet, and they'd be very easy to deal with up until that point.

I hope the whole dealer network goes down in flames. What a bunch of scumbags

Should take possession of it yourself and enjoy your own markup when you sell it.
The problem with that is after paying the sales tax there's not a lot of room left to make a profit. By law you have to register and insure it and then if there's a loan involved now you're paying interest too. You'd be lucky to break even.

Just curious; how did you go from Lariat Tremor to the complete opposite in regards to your needs/wants?
This, they are very different vehicles.

The only real similarity is the pickup bed.

Offroad focused midsized truck with body on frame based construction.

Economy focused compact truck with a crossover based construction.

My partner just bought a Tacoma TRD Off Road. We decided we didn't need two very similar trucks, and something with better mileage makes more sense for daily driving.

Also, I am getting the AWD Maverick with the Ecoboost engine, so it is fairly capable.

Yep! Sales tax in Tacoma is 10%. The downside to living in a state with no Income Tax.

I suspect my dealer will put it on the lot for $3k-$5k above MSRP. MSRP on this truck is $46k.

umm, actually that may not be a bad idea , or maybe trade the tremor on the Maverick ?

Same dealer, won't work. LOL. Maverick is available now and the Tremor won't be in for a month.

Maybe she reevaluated her needs and is getting a vehicle that will be more appropriate for her? I wish I could get a Maverick for the better mpg and lower purchase price, but I unfortunately need a midsize truck often enough that I needed to step up to the ranger. I dream about trucks all the time that are overkill for my needs, but being honest with yourself can save a lot of money.

Let us know how you like the Maverick.
Gotta do what's best for you.
Might want to consider your partner's taste in trucks, though ;)

Don't feel so bad we have an income tax here and our sales tax is still 8.8%. The only good thing is we don't pay sales tax on used vehicles.

In Ontario we pay 13% sales tax on top of federal and provincial income taxes. Plus gas taxes, booze taxes, cigs. It never stops.

She.

And my wife wanted a Taco more than I wanted the Ranger. LOL. But yeah, I reevaluated. We do a lot of highway only driving, and need one vehicle that's a bit better suited to pavement miles. The Tacoma will be our Overland rig. I'll likely do a 2" lift on the Maverick and add bigger tires, just in case we do take it off road.

good for you! my next door neighbor just bought a Maverick. and to be honest, its a nice truck. I like a lot of the design elements and its just a good looking small truck. I think you will be happy in the Maverick ( please dont slap me Ranger Pride, I still like my Ranger better !)
