Thought experiment:They're a convenience item just like a damper.![]()

If a child is under the tailgate when it slams down it could very well be fatal. Keep a close eye on those little ones if you chose to not have a damper .Thought experiment:
What happens if all tailgate dampers just suddenly disappeared. What would the consequences be? Perhaps a bunch of skinny-armed guys being embarrassed by the loud clunk that reverberates through the parking lot as they drop their tailgates?
Now what happens if all hood struts just suddenly disappeared? For anybody working under the hood as that happened, the resulting impact to the back of their head could be fatal!
So no, the roles of hood struts and tailgate dampers are not equivalent.
Yes, if you don't have hood struts, you need a prop rod to make up for the deficiency. If a child is under the tailgate when it slams down it could very well be fatal. Keep a close eye on those little ones if you chose to not have a damper .
Hood struts are just dampers for raising the hood. The tried and true prop rod is for real men that don't have a issue lifting the lightweight aluminum hood.
Hmmm , seems they are equivalent![]()
Not true, you need the two tailgate cables that are on there now.Yes, if you don't have hood struts, you need a prop rod to make up for the deficiency.
Whereas if you don't have a tailgate damper, you don't need anything.
Does the damper eliminate the need for those cables? Not true, you need the two tailgate cables that are on there now.![]()
? IDK I never tried without them. But I don't see why a damper wouldn't hold it being an aluminum tailgate.Does the damper eliminate the need for those cables?

No , I know the difference , Just not taking this discussion as serious as some ,LOL .Hi Benny,
You are confusing oranges with elephants... Hood is operated with Gas springs, which are not dampers. Dampers are just type of shock absorber and offer little if any load carrying ability unlike gas springs....
Best,

When you delete you account here. lol
?? ??I get it 100%. Even have the flag on the back wall. ?![]()
I hope you get the joke, sometimes my American isn't the best LOL?? ??
I got one too, but for me it's when I have my hands full, then open the gate and not getting a hard drop.you know if you had done a search here you would have learned that the tailgate is so light a damper, damperer, dampener, uh.....strut, is a complete waste of your money. just between the 2 of us, i bought one too. hope its not more than ainstall!
