With the advancement of voice activation, I am surprised that such technology has yet been applied to such a mundane device. that I am aware of.
This would have vastly helped with toilet seats that would not stay raised because they were adorned with fuzzy cover covers that our Grandmothers festooned their "crappers" with.
All you male "Boomers" know exactly what I mean...
OMG...I hate those covers!

I know you can relate to this....How many times have you "thought" the back was propped upright only to have it slam down as you're already in the midst go going:question::facepalm:

RangerGuy2019. What a journey your innocent post has taken us on! And I suspect that we're not there yet!
But these are all related as to why we want things that are "dampening":D

Some have said that their wifes like the damper. So, many of you need the damper. I just dont want Ford to put more stuff on the TRUCK and therefore more expensive just for the weak. These things and others should be an after market add on for only the people who need it. One size doesnt fit all. All the sheep dont need bells.

I take great exception to your comment that the Damper might be for the Weak. WTF?

these macho guys see it as weakness apparently. Their giant muscles and superior brain strength being replaced by 2 brackets and a strut. Their entire world has been threatened. How will they impress local ladies they just met on farmers only?

Some also brag about turning off all the driver assistance technology because they can’t handle being out smarted by the tech! Too bad they don’t still make the 2010 Ranger for these Cavemen.

I added 80 lbs to my tailgate and I head out the to garage to do curls, just to let you weak bitches know.

Hey I just had a breakthrough idea. if you flip the damping rod around, does it resist being closed? Hell yeah!

hahaha. You only added 80lbs? I guess that’s a good start. I’m going with 150 and the resistance strut mod. Should really help me build my biceps. I’m thinking I park right outside the local watering hole and I should easily bag 3 ladies with a combined full set of teeth.

I only do curls with my left arm. To compensate for "computer time" with my right arm. Wait, I might have said too much there.

Reason number 21 why a tailgate damper is a good idea. When you live in a state that gets snow, the roads turn to crap and the crap gets splashed all over your truck, including your tailgate. All those hand/finger prints from opening the tailgate can easily create scratches. Or I could just open the tailgate and let it drop I guess, but I am not like that.

Unrelated to the thread but your photo made me think of it. Does your tailgate handle line up properly? Mine is flush on the left side but is set in on the right side. Yours looks like it could be the same way.
