I know, I’m one of the original ford Ranger “hackers” :). I’m being funny as in “we don’t need no stinking backups “
Besides saving the original 'as built' file I made a paper log in the back of the book where I have listed every fill up, oil change etc. this way I can, if needed, reset each of the changes made.
I honestly doubt it'll ever come to that.

I'm trying to enable the hill descent control button after adding the switch (2020 Lariat, Non FX4, Non Electronic Locking Diff). It doesn't look like there is a definite answer is enabling it. I've been comparing AS-BUILTS off various Rangers found on CARS.COM. It looks like Hill Decent Control is controlled by 720-10-01 and 760-03-01 also trying to figure out what 760-02-01 and 760-0202 are? Does anyone have access to Ford's AS-Built database for programming?

Yes... I've done a lot of comparing...

This is what I have come up (Not VERIFIED).

It looks like

Instrument Cluster:
720-10-01 1004 1000 is Trail Control in combination with.. (1000 1000 is non Trail Control)

ABS:
760-02-01 0505 0A03 is FX4 equipped (0105 0A03 is without)
760-02-02 x4xx 4 is SuperCab, 5 is SuperCrew
760-02-02 xxx3 3 is FX4 equipped, 2 is without
760-03-01 xxx7 still working on this one... But it seems that EVEN is no TC and ODD has TC Number Range from 4 to 7
IE: 4 No TC, 5 has TC, 6 No TC, 7 has TC (Loaded). Some group 302a have even and some have odd.

I did this comparing all of the same year vehicles (2020) (which is what I have). Other years may vary.

To add to this.... I never see TC enabled (ODD number in 760-03-01) without FX4 equipped

1004 in the Instrument Cluster and xxx3 in the 760-02-02 field.

You’re doing the Lord’s work.

I have already installed the TC button in hopes that someone would figure this out. If you get above 90% confidence I would take one for the team and try this out.

Since I am only looking at data from about 20 2020's

I would try:

720-10-01 You should see 1000 1000 0038 Change to 1004 1000 005C (XLT and LARIAT ONLY)
That should enable the cluster.

760-03-01 will have a EVEN number in it. Make it 1 higher and should be an ODD # (so a 0004 becomes 0005) 0006 becomes 0007 etc (Checksums are 0005 70 and 0007 72)
This should enable the TC.

However I believe you also need the FX4 package which would be
760-02-01 and should have 0105 0A03 027F in it. which would be changed to 0505 0A03 0284

760-02-02 is your body style (Crew vs Cab) but the last number seems to change with the TC/FX4 option. So a 402 would be a SuperCab and a 502 would be a SuperCrew that would change to a 403 or 503 depending on the Cab.

If you want to give that a go.

NOTE: This is a guess purely based on looking up VIN's on CARS.COM and decoding them. But I am attempting to do the same thing. If your numbers don't match, please don't proceed. I only did 2020 models and the model year and the data may have changed with the model year.

I’m told by reliable sources that this feature is in the tcm and not available if not equipped. About 2 years ago we all went through a bunch of asbuilt files and several users made changes to their trucks. Nobody was successful.

check out saeb.net for more info.

Thanks. It will be next week before I can get the OBD adapter from my dad. I’ll report back.

I tried it tonight... Definitely CLOSE

It complains about the BRAKES and ADVANCETRAC errors. So there must be some missing hardware, additional settings that also needs to be changed.

It would be nice to compare notes with others on this. I noticed on the F-150 there is a missing wire that must be ran. Does anyone have access to a wiring diagram for a 2020 ranger?

I've not given up on this. I am going through 5 vehicles of the same year as mine to compare the differences via AsBuild Hacker (After editing the XML for the Ranger).

Wondering if some of the other options can be added as well (IE: rain sensing wipers).

Not wanting to duplicate what others have done..

TC vs HDC.webp

There seems to be 2 features that I am trying to install. I have the button for the Trail Control I believe works with the HDC feature.

HDC_Manual.webp

According to the manual (above) this is the sequence. The GWM Model (716) is exactly the same between trucks. So no changes there. So has anyone put all of the 760 (ABS) and 720 (IPC) blocks from a KNOWN AS-BUILT truck with these features in them?

Nobody I’ve seen has done this. That said don’t overwrite the vin which is usually in the first few blocks.

hill decent control is replace by trail control on fx4 trucks.

I have NOT tried replacing all of the IPC blocks, But in the 760 ABS Module there are just 7 blocks that differ: (Mine in the Left), TC on the Right (2020 Lariat, SuperCab)
760.webp

In the IPC there are 10 Blocks that differ... But this vehicle also has additional options
(Mine on the Left vs TC equipped on the Right)

720.webp

HillStartAssistNA.webp

ServiceAdvanceTrac.webp

Again haven't tried them all, but these are the screens that I get.

Yes sorry should have mentioned that, I have identified the VIN in the 760 ABS module which ends @ 760-02-01 (checksum)

(RED = VIN in ASCII (HEX))
