Went to work this morning and gas was $3.99 at Fry's. 5 hours later it's now at $4.39 and this is for 87. I have 3/4 of a tank left of 91 and next fill up I'll be flashing back to the 87-89 soft shift tune. Might not matter because soon enough the economy will collapse and we'll have no where to go. :curse::mad:
I filled up last night while gas was $3.89. Overnight it went up to $4.39 everywhere around here with Shell being $.10 higher.

I don't think a collapse is in the future without serious worldwide conflict, but I firmly believe economically things are going to get harsh pretty soon and last quite awhile. WIth grain futures going insane due to a future short fall in potash and ammonia (fertilizer futures), I think food prices / yield reductions will be the chief concern over fuel. Fuel will just exacerbate the problem. If we thought inflation was bad now.... get ready for a rough road ahead.

Well if $8.00/gal contributes to the downfall of a certain dirtbag I don't mind paying it, but if it goes to pump up profits of big oil that's another matter. Does anyone recall the days when ExxonMobil was "earning" $112,000,000 per day ?

Was happy with $4.10...fortunately I work from home so don't need to fill up to much. That said I hope prices start coming back down by the end of april when we move from WA to New Mexico.

That's where I am, but it's just lining big oil's (and the market trader's) pockets, which is bull.

We will not encourage increased domestic production because long term we need to wean ourselves off oil
Trying to "not be political" I seem to remember a candidate or candidate's spokesperson saying "we can walk and chew gum at the same time" meaning the country can do two things at once. Why can't we produce oil and natural gas to lower prices for working families AND pursue advances in renewable energy? It doesn't have to be one or the other. In fact we need to fuel the existing fleet of vehicles until their useful live is over. How many working families can afford to replace their car(s) and get nothing but the $200 for scrap back for the car their replacing? The agenda is so great they don't look at the situation clearly. Moving to "green energy" is all that matters and it must be done at all costs.

My wife and I were just talking about gas prices this morning. It's going to cost us over $1000 in gas to drive back to Maine where we can pick up the car that gets 40MPG. I don't want to be stuck in SoCal or Arizona towing a cargo trailer. 11 MPG is a bit low at these prices. Gas prices haven't been this high since 2008.

Funny, the same person was working in the Whitehouse at the time.
Gas prices have *never* been this high. The white house has nothing to do with current pricing. You can thank the rich and commodities traders for the current pain.

I believe the oil we use in the US, we get from other countries, like Saudi Arabia.

Since we produce so much oil, we sell ours for more $ to other countries.

It is all BIG Oil capitalizing on an emotional moment.

Yeah okkkkkk. Let me know when you've understood how gas prices are affected by the oil commodities market, to say nothing of gas markets and other trading. This is capitalization on a conflict in the interest of profits.

We don't have a supply issue, but oil is projected to hit $150+/bbl before the month is out, when there's still not a single supply issue.

Some of us will still have to go to work.
But nowhere else, for sure.
