It all comes down to how you use your vehicle if a Ranger still makes economic sense during high fuel prices. I drive 8 miles round trip a day for work so not a huge deal. If I was commuting 50-100+ miles a day for work I would be daily driving a much higher MPG vehicle. I also generally drive around 10,000 miles in an average year. Once again if my needs were to drive 15,000+ miles a year I'd probably be looking for a higher MPG vehicle.

My 2019 XLT FX4 does pretty good on fuel for what it is. I know that I'll be taking a bit of a hit especially on the highway with the 2022 Tremor I ordered, but again with my use it won't be terrible.

I might have to stop doing my 15 minute app warm-ups in the morning, wonder how much those are costing me. My commute is only 10 minutes

Gas prices are high and going to get higher before everything comes crashing down. I've seen this rodeo before in '08 and it doesn't end well for the economy anyhow.

With that said, the Ranger does pretty good on fuel economy for what it is, a conventional frame based truck. There are people driving around burning a lot more gas then we are in the Ranger and although that 18 gallon tank limits range it sure beats filling up a 36 gallon F-150 tank right now.

With energy being the backbone of the economy.....ya we are in for a world of hurt for awhile. I think 08' might seem like good times after this is all said and done.

Not to get into politics because I know that's a no-no around here, but as we get closer to the mid-term elections expect the whole... "We will not encourage increased domestic production because long term we need to wean ourselves off oil" line to quickly change and increased production will be strongly encouraged. You'll see. ?

I've been using Costco but they also broke the $5/g barrier earlier this week. Still happy with my Ranger though as I'm averaging 21mpg combined.

And super glad I traded my lifted GMC canyon (with 33s) which was doing 15mpg. That being said, I own a 2015 Nissan Versa for crisis like this ! Looks like I'm be back to the Versa this week for work commute.
Just under $4.50 for 91 octane at our local Costco this morning :(

I wonder if there will be an uptick in the "Gas filling funnel" threads cause everyone will start stealing gas and wonder how to use the funnel. That makes me wonder, how hard is it to steal gas out of our trucks?

Glad mine is diesel. Here in Philippines I am paying about $4 a gallon. But I get about 900 kms on a tank.

Get used to higher prices...
We still don't pay now what our northern cousins in Canada have been paying for years...
We have traveled in Canada many times, and even as far back as 2017 we were paying almost the equivalent of almost 5 bucks a gallon for plain old regular with as low as 85 octane...
Can't imagine what it is now.

Drill a hole in bottom of plastic gas tank with a simple hole saw and let gas drain into bucket...how much simpler can you get ????

That is true.. :) Is there anything preventing the siphoning of gas from the filler?

Siphoning would take too long to drain out 10 - 15 gallons.....hole in bottom of tank much faster...couple of 5 gallon pails and a large container to dump each pail into....2 guys, 2 pails, large container....5 minutes.

crybabies...i put gas in yesterday (and its set to take a big jump again soon) and it was $1.819 regular for a litre in cdn funds. 93 was well over $2
do the math, you guys in the states are still sucking it back at bargain rates.

I've decided to fill it up every 1/4 tank now so the sting is alot less when i swipe the card.
By my math that's about 6.88CAD per US gallon, or about $5.39/gal.

I paid $5.50/gal for 91 last week, and it's already up to $5.75 in at some stations. Even Costco is at $5.09/gal for premium.

This is why we need to stop commodities trading. We don't actually have a supply issue currently, rich people are just scared about the Russia/Ukraine conflict and are screwing over the little guys with their paper oil.

I would be fine with spending more for oil if it actually meant something to those who need the help, but all this is doing is lining the pockets of the people who are constantly screwing us over to begin with.
