Maybe you should look into a pedal commander. I've never owned one, but it might do what you're looking for, and not void the warranty.

That looks interesting but im thinking its more of a tranny issue than throttle...

I see Ford has a tune , i guess that wouldn't void warranty ... Not sure how it shifts though ... Somewhere above Drive but below sport would be perfect... IMO ...

The ford performance tune is great. With it drive is much better, shift points are perfect IMO and you can feel the quicker response. Sport mode is fantastic as well.
In order to keep the factory warranty you have to have the tune installed by a ford dealer or ASE certified tech

Just keep in mind that with the ford tune, you're stuck with 93 octane. I have livernois and it's pretty good and the tow tune has flexibility on octane.

A tune does not void your warranty. If and that's a big IF damage is done to your engine the dealer and or manufacturer must prove that the tune is what caused it. That's the law. Know your rights.

Most reputable tuners will give you more usable power with keeping things safe and NOT over powering or over boosting your truck.

I had the FP performance tune on my 21 Ranger up to recently (~7500 miles) it raises the shift points and cruising rpm. The cruising rpms are not quite as high as I would like to get rid of that lugging sensation 100% but I was happy to live with it. Since I do not push the truck into the upper rpm range very often where you get most of the power increase from the FP tune and the fact that gas price are going up fast I decided to go back to a tune that I could use 87 Octane. Since I already had a SCT X4 from a previous car and have had nothing but great service from Unleashed tuning I purchased an 87 Octane performance tune from Torrie. I asked him specifically to work.on the transmission calibration. I am on the second revision which is based of the tow mode but does not hold the rpms before upshifting as long. It keeps the cruising rpm between 1500 and 2000 rpm which is what I wanted. There is some hunting between gears but it is getting less and less as the transmission learns so I am not going to request another revision yet.

The actual 87 performance tune is noticeably better than stock in the low mid range and very close to the FP tune. I am very happy with it.

That damn lug is the main thing , feels like an old 82 toyota manual I had if you shifted into 5th WAY to early... I should have did a LOT more test driving ... Ford tricked me with that dang ecoboost , it hypnotized me somehow with the quickness and I didn't notice anything else...

They run at these real low rpms to try and squeeze as much mileage as they can. Other than not feeling right can't imagine it is bad for the engine.

Until you decide what you want to do you can run it in tow mode.

considering getting a tune, but not sure i want to spend the money for a custom. never tuned a vehicle before, so its all new to me. would a canned tune from a product like this be fairly comparable to a custom? i would choose an 87 performance. anyone running this, and if so, what is your opinion of it? TIA

so i went with the sct bdx tuner, to try one of the canned tunes to see if that would satisfy me before moving on to a custom tune. hooked it up, went thru all the steps, connected to wifi successfully, so on and so forth. i then got a message that there were no tunes available for my vehicle at this time. searched for updates, didnt help. what am i missing? thought i would try to find an answer here before i call sct. first time tuning a vehicle so it figures it wouldnt go smoothly for me.

According to the SCT web page the X4, BDX and Live Wire TS all come with preloaded tunes for the Ranger.
