Jeeps have dual batteries?

There's a small auxiliary battery mounted underneath the main battery. It's for the A/S/S and from all my reading it usually fails and takes out the main battery with it. It has to be the dumbest set up I've seen!

Looks like some have just disconnected it and ran a jumper wire off the main battery (it'll throw a dash code if you don't) and then there's some Genesis dual battery kit you can buy for like $600. I have to read up more on it but for now I leave another maintainer on it and will most likely just disconnect it.

Here's what the main battery looks like.

A few 2019 owners on here have had battery issues - including me. I had a “bad battery” and it was replaced by my dealer on warranty. They have to do more than a simple voltage test. They need to conduct a proper inspection and load test. They’ll likely want to bring it to full charge, measure it, keep it overnight, measure it for drop, and perform the load test to make a proper diagnosis.
This happened to me twice. My original battery went dead and the replacement as well. Both failed the load test. So I'm on my third battery now, which has been good for a year. Seems there is a real bad batch of OEM batteries.

Have we reached the point where dudes can't even figure out their battery is dead?

For crying out loud, this is simple shit.

Once again, we've proved that America is no longer making men.

I just got mine last week. Figured it's best to have it as we're going on a road trip this summer and don't want to take a chance of being out in the middle of nowhere and having the battery crap out. Plus I liked the look of it. lol

Considering how fast your battery will drain if you left all 40,000 lumens on with you truck off. I'd say that was a good buy!

Ok, took me a while to understand what our Rangers are doing and Fords approach to the charging system. Because we have an AGM type battery things are different than the old days, much different really. The way Ford has set this up they only charge the battery to 70% of its total capacity. This is supposedly for longevity of the battery. There is a setting if you Have Forscan to change it. Some have also unplugged the connector in front of the battery box that will disable ASS and also disable AGM system entirely. That charges your battery to 100%. When ever your battery reserve is low your ASS or auto start will disable itself by default.

It does sound like you could have a bad cell and some testing will reveal this

Does it sound like the alternator could be the problem? I don't mind a bad battery, that's easy to replace. I am going on a trip to AZ soon though (next weekend) and would really like to take care of any issues the truck may have before that. This is why I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow.
I don't think your alternator is the problem because you said it's fine for a couple of days after jumping and a long drive. that tells me the alternator is doing it's job. it sounds like your battery is not holding a charge or there is something slowly draining your battery. as a first step in the troubleshooting process, I would take Marpater's advice and find a place that will test your battery and go from there.

Agree 100%. It's not because these vehicles draw anymore electricity. If anything, they draw less because of LEDs and more streamlined hardware/software. The basic car battery HAS changed!! They manufacturer them so poorly nowadays. With the shortage of rare earth metals for the components, the piss poor manufacturing, to the inept service/parts personnel at dealerships, it's either the battery or your vehicle is drawing when its off. Dealer should have done a load test to see if the battery is good first. If the battery is good, then someone needs to look at the vehicle for that draw. You don't need a battery tender if its just sitting for a couple weeks, unless its parked in extremely cold or hot environment. "Cold cranking amps" get affected especially in....wait for it....cold! Battery tenders are great for long term storage, but not needed for any short breaks of use if the battery is worth its weight. I have read several posts somewhere here, that several people have had similar issues, only to find out that the cheap @$$ batteries FordMoCo put in the vehicles are garbage, and have most likely been sitting in their production lot for a long time, not to mention the dealers are not checking them well during delivery.

Last battery I personally found that still has an actual warranty was a DieHard Gold from Advanced Auto for 3 years....Used to be 5 years, but manufacturing standards have changed. YMMV.
