I ordered my Tremor in September and picked it up on the 28th of December. Haven't even made a payment yet or even opened that window and I go out to the garage and find this!

It was sitting in there for a day as I put on a graphics package I ordered, so not sure why it would do that. It normally sits outside and as I was vacuuming up the glass, I saw there was water in the track. I wonder if it had froze and stressed the glass and it just let go that night in a warm garage?

Waiting to hear back from Ford but I feel like I'll have to eat this.

Your comprehensive should take care of it if Ford doesn't. If it was a matter of going from a cold snap environment then to warm and broke, comprehensive should cover it. It happened twice with the hatch on my Mountaineer. Both times we had a deep freeze for a spell and then one day a drastic warm up... went out and the fiberglass section of the hatch had a long straight crack. Insurance agent danced around it for awhile until I let her know I know about expansion and contraction depending on temps. So the first claim, I had to have the bodyshop agree it was from the weather changes... next time it happened, insurance didn't give me a hard time about it.

I stared at that first picture for a couple minutes trying to figure out what the heck was wrong with it then scrolled down... Been a long week. What a real bummer but as others mentioned I think you'll be covered. Shit happens. Just know that once you get it fixed you have a damn fine truck

I remember a thread somewhere of someone's entire back glass doing something similar. Might have a look around and see if ya can't find the solution that was found in that thread. If I remember right it was something about defroster install.

Don't feel bad I just did the same thing. I was scratching my head saying " looks good to me" until I scrolled down.

This just happened not to long ago to another member here. I don't remember the outcome of his but hopefully Ford takes care if this for you.

Wondering when someone will mention an undampend tailgate as cause. Sorry you have to deal with that
You know...I haven't done that, you might be onto something!?

You should not accept this. Immediately load that truck up and send it to my house.
? I'd feel bad giving you a broken truck!

The dealership wants it on Friday to look at it and talk with Ford. Hoping for the best.

i guess ive never had or seen a weather related glass breakage other than hail. i live in an area where the temps do not stay under freeze for long so i guess thats why. almost seems like a quality of glass issue though. i mean if it was several years old and survived many hard winters and summers then i could see it losing some strength. but being brand new and this to happen?? maybe its just me.

Hi Mark,

Well being a breather of CO2 I cannot relate to the Air breather you are... However I have had experiences with production evaluations where there was in infant mortality of broken glass. We immediately returned to the plant and got the Resident Engineer and Plant Liaison engineer on the issue.... I followed them up the line on the trim line to where the glass was installed.... The plant guy started looking around and usually found a "brick" that was wrapped in duct tape being used to "set the window". Minor stress but damaged the glass so all it took was a tiny input to fracture the glass.

Do not know what happened here, but dealer should take care of the problem. Sad you are having this experience.

We used to have cracks in windshields and rear glass on prototypes. Usually a a crack which slowly started propagating across the glass. I always hit the glass with my fist to chase the crack until the glass shattered.....Then took the prototype back to the Experimental Garage for diagnosis and glass replacement....due to being hand built, many times it was the prototype body pinchweld flanges were out of plane.... Nature of the beast with prototypes....not the case with your glass though...

Best,
Phil

Well, Ford said to go pack sand! Had to have insurance cover it since it was $1,400 to replace the whole back window. Not sure why they couldn't just replace the sliding window...but oh well.

Glad I have it back. Now I have to get the tailgate damper on before anything else breaks!?
