I'm going to bitch about what I did today.

Today, I stuck my 2022 vehicle registration stickers on my Ranger and my Mustang. I had to have my registration renewed on those two vehicles by Jan. 4th. That meant paying not just for the registration, but for Georgia vehicle emissions testing too. I had to do all of this because I'm not closing on my new house in Florida until January 14th. So I got to spend a bunch of useful money on almost useless vehicle registrations. Yay. ?

Oh...and I thought I had it bad. Here I am with a 50% off vehicle inspection at Jiffy Lube only to see an inspection fee on my registration from what I saved last year. Meh......sure wished I lived closer to work. I'd rather walk.

Took some time this morning to start mapping and laying out the base work for the battle wagon rear cabin. Once its all done, trimmed out, the wood will get a coat of black paint and then a rubberized finish. There will be a floor platform as well (carpeted) for my dogs or a human as needed. I need to order a couple of more laser cut molle panels (I tossed one random molle pouch on there just to get an idea what I am working with).

Took a part this electronic weapon rack I recently acquired, I think the only portion I am going to keep is the actually locking mechanism. I am going to see if I can repurpose the support bar to be used in my custom fabricated over-head ceiling console I have been wanting to tackle.

Glad I pre-wired everything because this turned out to be an adventure.

Mounted the rear Diode Dynamics SSC1 red backlit reverse lights. Both backlights and reverse lights are tied into an up fitter. I've dedicated a 10amp up fitter for running lights, the reverse lights are on another up fitter circuit. The red on these are a bit darker and of a different hue than the stock lamps, couldn't tell you about how bright they are yet. Custom pod mounts bolted to the two hitch framing.

The adventure started when my Makita drill decided to lock up in hammer mode making drilling though steel impossible. Off to Ace down the street to pick up a corded Dewalt. Back home, plug in the Dewalt and pressed the trigger to immediate white smoke, back to Ace to return and get a Milwaukee instead.

I finally got around to installing my dashcam & a BuiltRight Industries mounting plate for my Garmin.

Sorry for the lighting; this was the best I could do without moving spots. Cam is a Thinkware F200 Pro. I have the rear cam too, but the picture I took came out horrible. I will try to get another one later. I used the Echomaster OBDII hardwire kit, which ties into the OBDII port. The second image is where I zip-tied the module in the kick panel. The wiring goes up the A-pillar and then exits the plastic shroud covering the electronics behind the mirror. Be careful if you want to do this though, that cover is REALLY hard to get off, and I ended up breaking a clip getting it off.

The first image is the mount and arm I used for the GPS. (Side note, Garmin uses a 17mm ball for its mounting hardware, so if you're handy with a 3D printer, you could make an adapter to mount the Garmin clip straight to the RAM arm.) The second is a view of how the GPS looks from the driver's perspective, and the third is both the cam & GPS installed. I also mounted a USB in the tray, but I won't show how I mounted it because it's a bit jank. (Note to others: DO NOT install anything in the center rear of the tray. There is plastic behind it that will need to be cut away if you do, and it's not easy to do. I'm just an idiot and didn't check before I started cutting.)

Probably an ignorant question, but may I ask why you have an extra screen for your map? I have seen a few on here and I always wonder what the point is, considering our trucks are equipped with Apple & Android Carplay?

Edit: nevermind, you use Garmin… I’m a dumbass. Lol
I do use Android Auto. I even bought the AAWireless to enable wireless functionality. I just dislike Google Maps. It has frequently taken me to the wrong place, and will make stupid adjustments like taking me on unnamed dirt roads because it thinks it saves time. (That's how I got a Ford Fusion stuck in a ditch one time. Super loose and wet gravel aren't my friend.) I decided I preferred a device with dedicated functionality that I could program to avoid things like dirt county roads and to not reroute me to "save time".

Progress moves on. The gap will be addressed later. Now I need to ponder if a hinge and gas strut system will work for this project so I can still access the under seat storage and if so, how to keep the platform rigid when down. Maybe T-locks of some sort. If that is a no go I'll simply deck screw it down to the 2x4 support under it (not pictured, used the seat belt bolts as mount point).

I also plan to build a removable extension that goes up to the rear of the front seats.

Today was oil change and tire rotation day. I'll never undestand why folks think changing the oil is hard, you only need two tools. Just remember to turn hard right when you park it to make room to get to the filter.

It can't be that bad. I bet Commiefornia registration cost for one vehicle out here covers like 4 out there. Just on my 2019 expedition and my 2019 ranger registration out here was 1200 dollars together, and that's every year lol
