Long Brake Travel

One thing I did noticed on my test drive was the brakes did not stop like I expected. Maybe I am just used to other cars but it was not confidences inspiring. I am thinking some different pad might help with better bite. Just trying to gouge what people have switched to. Key points:

Quiet, low dust, better bite, and better thermal capacity

Yep, mine were the same, 5 minutes with Forscan (and a set of ear plugs) and now the brakes are perfect.

I am bringing my laptop and OBD2 adapter with me when I take delivery. If they feel wired I will do it right then and there at the dealership. I got a 1700 mile road trip so I need breaks to be at there best

1700 miles on twisty back roads would be where you need phenomenal brakes.
on interstates...meh, not so much.

The brake "feel" has always been a contentious issue on here. but the brakes actually work as they should.

True I am sure I could get used to them but why not have them at there best

The brakes work. It's the brake travel and feel at the pedal that sucks horrible. Worse than my '19 F150, which I thought sucked too. Yeah you can get used to horrible feeling brakes. But why should anyone put up with that shite on a modern vehicle?

I just drove my wife's 2012 Buick LaCrosse and the brakes on that car felt awesome. Short travel, firm at the pedal. The way brakes should feel! I got Forescan and the OBD2 connector and a laptop. I'm bleeding that ABS block. Should be done at the factory by Ford before these trucks go out to their first customers!

It'll freak them out when you do the ABS bleed procedure. The noise it makes is atrocious...

I did the abs bleed on mine last night. Drove it today. OMG better. I hated the brakes before. They still are not going to surprise you but I’d guess 30% or more improvement. It now feels normal to me for a truck

You can adjust the brake pedal rod to the booster and raise the engagement point significantly. I did that on mine and the pedal travel is only about 1-1.5" before the brakes start to actuate. It's nearly identical to the brake pedal feel and actuation point in the F150's now.

If you do decide to do this be conservative with the adjustment till you are satisfied with it. Be sure to go for at least 20-30 min test drives with a mix of stop/go and highway speeds and take temperature readings with an accurate infrared probe of the rotors to make sure none of the calipers are dragging after you adjust it.

They may frown upon you making software changes there. Don't give them an excuse to say future problems were caused by you meddling in the software settings.

Abs bleed does not raise the pedal it gets rid of that vagueness. If you adjusted the pedal and did the bleed you would likely have no free play left before engagement
