Not throwing shade on anyone but maybe it's the driver? If @Msfitoy has 112K and the brakes are still good what could be the difference? Maybe it is breaking habits?

Yes, off-road dust, dirt and grime can accelerate brake wear but unless you are driving down unpaved roads most of the time, I just don't see that as a cause.

road you travel ... got 35k out of mine but live in the country, lots of hills and turns all 2 lane chip and tar.... plus weather on traction control ....

NC's like that but no where as bad as out east...MA, PA has so many long grades that required riding the brakes...I'd hate to have to drive there all the time...

Could be the roads, but mine is literally not releasing the brakes leaving a flat driveway when it rains. It acts like the parking brake is on (it isn’t), requires some decent amount of throttle to move, and then slowly releases what feels like a “hill holder” until it creeps up slowly.

If it were a sticky parking brake it would let loose at once, so I am putting my bets on the computer.

I have 15k and virtually no brake wear, let’s see how the next 15k bodes…

Sounds like rotors rust seizing the brakes...that happens in cold icy conditions as well...quite normal once it's broken free with a bit of gas...

Brake wear is really driver and use dependent.
I bought my van, that had been bought new by a medical supply home delivery service, with 18,000 miles on it and by 19,000 rear brakes and rotors were toast.
I am now at 53,000 miles and dealer had no concerns with brake life at the last oil change
The fronts are original.

The thing is mine is doing it on every startup, even after being driven a while. It will do it when on a slick surface (such as tile), when it rains (in a garage), or even on those parking decks that have overhead cover.

I too thought it was rust but catch the computer intervening at other times, so I’d bet those who drive spiritedly (and the computer applies one rear brake to avoid squealing one tire) have traction control intervening every time they leave a light.

Wow...if it's that repeatable, I'd take it to a shop and have them look at it...something else must be wrong...

27k and a ton of pad left on the back. I expected more to be gone based on how TC works on this thing, but I also don't hot rod it all the time. So, my shenanigans that trigger TC are not enough to murder the pads on mine. A good bit of that 27k is highway driving and not many hard panic stops since I don't run up the tail pipe of other cars and use Google maps as my traffic ahead warning system.
