Hey, I think the cutting out on my truck may be the truck electronics, everybody here, has it happened as you are approaching another vehicle in front of you where you are accelerating to pass them but haven't made the move around them quite yet?
That's how it happened to me, it's the truck trying to save me, instead it's almost gotten me in trouble.
I have had the collision avoidance kick in many times as well as annoying adaptive cruise control braking when there's nothing in front of me but those are definitely different than what I have personally experienced with engine studdering under certain conditions.

Has anyone taken the truck into the dealership to see what they say? My truck had the same issue. It would completely face plant underload. First happened when towing but also happened under heavy acceleration or up steep hills. Turned out to be a misfire in cylinder 1 due to water build up.

I mentioned drilling a hole in a thread I started, and one question was, will it effect the boost pressure?

Probably a small amount but I haven't noticed any loss in power. Someone did the math on the amount of air that can escape a 1/16 hole under boost and it was a fraction of a percent.

Also, since I'm here, it's been 14 months and 20k+ miles since I put the weep hole in. I haven't had a single instance of the problem again. It used to consistently happen once every few months. I also have never found black spots on the driveway from drips.

I wanted to contribute to the story of cylinder 1 misfires. I have a 2020 Ranger (yup, its affecting them too) purchased new last April. No issues until Christmas (~7500 miles), then began misfiring upon hard acceleration on the highway. It happened again a couple weeks ago, and I brought it to the dealer for service today. I brought copies of the other stories posted on this site from others who had experiences the same thing. The delaer found water (and rust) where it shouldn't be (unclear where exactly, in the coil?). Parts are ordered to install the moisture shield. Today, I was in and out in about 1 hour, with high hopes of a solved problem, thanks apart to the other users on this site. I will update further when the service is complete. Thank you all. Ray.

Okay, so a weep hole fixes the issue here. But I also saw a catch can could possible do the same thing as drilling the hole. Would a weep hole catch can combo reduce the amount of condensation the can catches?

I've searched the Forums and haven't ran across any discussions. I'm experiencing an extremely intermittent issue when passing traffic and kicking down the transmission to pass. The engine is falling on it's face with no power to pass. It's only happened three times (with me) since I got it new in May. No CEL or codes when I pull the OBD. Has to be fuel or spark related but it's not throwing any codes. I've pulled the plugs all are perfect, cleaned the mass air, changed the air filter, cleaned throttle body, no water in fuel. I've bore scoped each piston, no signs of excessive carbon and no indication of detonation. Loss of boost, I'm unsure? Today my wife was driving and she said that it happened a couple of times with her even accelerating hard off of stop light's ( Haaa, proved my point with her that I'm not the only one with a lead foot).

I thought I saw a thread somewhere that was concerning the engine wiring harness? It's not the transmission as it's happened in sport mode as well. Hate to take it to the stealership and they keep if for weeks on end. Thought's???
Probably a little water in your fuel. Its in every gas station holding tank. Tankers come and stirr it all up when they top them up. Im told they have to get the water under the fuel pumped out every so often. Try some heet. Yellow bottle is 4 stroke, red bottle 2 stroke if memory serves. I actually just had mine do it for the first time and thats my guess anyways.
