FWIW, on my 15 Mustang it came with a 1 year complimentary Sirus Radio and a 5 year subscription to Travel Link. After the 1st year I did not intend to renew because I hardly used it but fell victim to one of their pitches for 3 months free that I could "cancel at any time" but after the free trial it would start charging my credit card until I did cancel. Well I called and cancelled and they cancelled the Travel Link that was supposed to be good for 5 years. I would call Sirus about the Travel Link and got no where, they just said to call Ford. Ford would say to call Sirus, I finally gave up.

When I got my 17 it had a 6 month trial on Sirus Radio and 5 year on Travel Link. I just let the Radio lapse and didn't respond to any offers and the Travel Link stayed active.

The Ranger came with a 3 month trial on Sirus Radio and I could not find anywhere in the Ford literature how long the Travel Link will last. Well my 3 month trial was up on 11/27 and I still have Travel Link. If I start getting renewal notices for Travel Link, I will likely renew if the cost is reasonable. Having traffic conditions integrated with the nav is useful enough to pay for.

I tried canceling on the car I traded in for the ranger... they kept trying to give me discounts. Not sure what was so hard to understand "I don't own the car anymore; even if it was free I want that car/radio off my account".

When you get the factory nav it comes with Travel Link. The most useful thing is it displays traffic conditions in green, yellow or red on the nav map. It will pin an icon on the map when there is construction, an accident or other activity that will impact traffic. If you are navigating to a destination and there is traffic condition it will ask you if you want to reroute around it. It is much much more accurate than Waze.

There is also an App under the App menu that gives you gas station locations, weather, sports, etc. I would not pay for that because you can get all that for free from "Ford + Alexa". Ford + Alexa is also integrated with the nav system. So if you ask Alexa for where there are gas stations it will present you with a list, you pick one the address is transfered over to the nav system and you get routed to it. Alexa will also call a place you asked her to search for.

First you have to have factory nav, if you don't it won't be installed. If you do select the App menu on the ribbon at the bottom of your Sync screen, it will be there. This is also where Ford Pass, iHeart Radio, Pandora, Ford+Alexa along with any other AppLink comparable apps you have on you phone.

Sirius XM Holdings Inc, isn't a stock I would even think about buying! The only reason they're in business is due to their (XM & Sirius) merger some years ago. Their diluted EPS is a whopping .08¢! Financially, they've been doing better in recent years, as AM radio is being phased out of hybrids and EVs (due to RFI issues).

I suspect a big chunk of their originally proposed audience has been eroded due in part to streaming over the cellphone networks.

My personal opinion? Their long-term viability is dismal at best.

This exactly.

I already pay for a cell plan that includes more than enough data for streaming internet radio.

While Sirius may work for some folks, it doesn't for me as I never listen to it even when it's free.

I would guess that I listened to less than an hour total during the free trial on my Ranger.

I've found the opposite, to the degree that travel link (IMO) is useless. Maybe region specific? Logically, I can't understand how travel link could possibly be more accurate because at best it's working with an underlying map that's a couple of years old, while if you're in a construction zone waze is updated basically instantly as the road is rerouted. Travel link also has far fewer roads (in my experience) that actually have traffic information vs waze. (I guess it's great if you only use interstate highways, and don't mid getting rerouted into a completely jammed up side street that travel link has no data on.)

As far as sxm generally, I used to do the "call and get a better rate" dance. Now I just listen to whatever I want from my phone and didn't even use sxm during the free trial. ?‍

I am quite sure the region has a big impact. But Waze requires users to be reporting traffic conditions and if they don't you aren't getting any info. I live south east of Boston and there are so few Waze users anything that is reported is obsolete or not accurate. The promise of getting info on speed traps from Waze keeps me trying it from time to time but it has been 100% wrong every single time I have used it. I have never seen traffic conditions on secondary roads with Waze and I do with Travel Link.

Most vehicles that offer SirusXM also offer Travel Link if the vehicle is equiped with Nav. And just like Google Maps the location and speed of your vehicle is being used along with along with info from other vehicles in the area, historical info, along with government sources to determine traffic conditions.

Not sure why everyone is so concerned about map updates. There may be places in the country that are building roads a lot but for the most part roads are pretty static. Even Google doesn't update new roads in real time. In the past 5 years there have been three new housing developments built and it took Google about a year and a half before they showed up. The 2020 Ford maps now have two of the three. But none of these roads would be used to go from point A to B, they would only be a destination.

A minimum of 30 minutes for me to cancel the one time I did. They also renewed on me without my permission and wanted to charge me for an extra month. I didn't win that one but I canceled and I have never renewed with them again. When they asked me why I was canceling, I told them because of the poor customer service.
Sometimes I think if you want to cancel don't tell them do you want to cancel, tell them you want to buy some service and then when you get somebody(within seconds) I bet that same person can cancel for you.
