I've noticed over the past month or so that the auto start/stop never actually shuts the truck down anymore. The weather is getting nice here in Florida now so this is the time of year when I actually enable the system since I don't have to deal with the AC being shut off at red lights. Just curious if anyone else had their A/S/S system just randomly stop working, and if anyone knows what the cause might be?

If you're still under warranty and it's the battery it will be covered under the 3/36. I just had mine replaced under warranty earlier this year. The heat will degrade these fast and it's a good idea to put a battery maintainer on it.

Also check the connection for the battery monitoring system at the negative battery terminal to see if it is loose or otherwise not making a good connection . Unplugging that connector will disable the A/S/S also .

You think I should take it to my dealer to have the battery checked? Or should I bring it in and just tell them that the a/s/s isn't working?

If you take it in for ASS they will check the battery and possibly put it on a charger, then tell you to bring it back if it stops again.

Yes just take it in and tell them the A/S/S isn't working and your like them to test the battery. Mine ended up having a dead cell but I always keep a maintainer on it as I don't drive it every day and the garage can get well over 120 in the summers.

I don't disagree with going to the dealer, but it is very easy to get a rough check of the battery by putting a voltmeter across it.

If I took mine in for a problem with the ASS they would simply tell me they can't do anything about the driver and still probably charge me $100 .

Hi John,

Take it into the dealer and say that ASS is not working...Fix it! Let them determine what is wrong...do not point them to the battery...let them figure this our. JMO.

Best,
Phil

I would start with getting into the info display....

Fuel Economy > Auto StartStop

It will tell you why it's not engaging.
Thanks, I will check this out. Maybe it got so used to me hitting the button after starting the truck that it just assumed I never wanted to use it ever again and just gave up.

Just a quick update. I have not taken it in to the dealer yet to get it checked out, but I did look in the info display under Auto Start/Stop and whenever I'm at a stop (engine stays running) it says "Vehicle Charging". Then when the truck is moving it says "Normal Operation". All signs point to a diminishing battery, and I will bring it in to the dealer at some point when I can find the time.

Yes do that.....and then it will also be on the record that you have the issue. Do this especially if you are still under warranty.
