I installed my Mishimoto cold air intake last weekend. I had originally been planning to get a Roush CAI, but when I saw Mishimoto's I thought the design was much better. I have no other mods but plan to get a Ford Performance tune and exhaust next - this CAI was on sale, otherwise I probably would have gotten it after a tune or exhaust.

Butt dyno can't tell much difference, and honestly without any other mods I didn't expect any. I have been playing around with the Torque Pro app, and if I did my 0-60 correct I was seeing 7.7/7.8 times before on the stock box, and around 7.3/7.4 times with the Mishi installed. I may not have recorded it correctly so who knows if I'm really getting a performance bump.

I do have one question - should I disconnect my battery cable to reset the PCM and force it to relearn? I haven't done this and wasn't sure if it would make a difference.

Anyway, thought I'd take some before and after photos to compare the stock vs Mishi's.

It's pretty easy, I just watched Mishi's youtube video showing how to do it and took my time.

Edit: Easy as in someone who doesn't do vehicle mods often. The hardest part was my short ass reaching over when I needed to bolt down the back.

How do you like the sound? I agree with your point of mishimoto seems to better made. I have roush and love it but always wanted to try the mishimoto cai as it comes with the air scoop too, but I have afe air scoop so not sure how much of a difference it would be.

I haven't noticed a difference in sound, at least not from inside the cab with the windows down. Initially I thought I could tell a difference when getting on it at highway speeds - but if there is a difference it's slight at best. I used to have an Acura Integra and the cold air on that acted like a trumpet lol

Roush seems like a good CAI and I probably wouldn't change if I had one, but being around the same price I went with the Mishimoto since it replaces the whole air box and has it's larger snorkel built in. I was looking at the Roush + AFE air scoop as well previously.

I have my doubts these devices provide any real world benefit over the stock intakes - perhaps with a tune....

Lot of $$$ for not much more than name dropping rights.
"I have a (insert manufacturers name here) CIA."

Retired, work is a four letter word.
I thought about a CAI but honestly after installing the FPP tune I though this is fast enough, and besides I still need to splurge on a set of sliders, and the Borla Cat-backs as well as front coil overs. And as I don't work for a living I need to budget a little, at least that is what I keep telling myself.

You have inspired me, I will tackle this in the morning. Appreciate it.

You are running the FP tune right? 91 performance tune?

Ah ok. Any reason why you chose the FP tune vs say 5 Star?
Chose FP tune because FP kept it in safe parameters I felt like but accessed much needed power. Not too crazy and wild but more conservative. And I cared about retaining the warranty at the time.
