Nothing exciting, just another Friday morning and my monthly trip to the barber shop. Then breakfast at McDonalds.

While eating breakfast, I noticed an obviously retired man sitting nearby reading a newspaper (!) and I got to take a moment to reflect on my semi-retirement, lol. Full retirement can't come soon enough.

On the way home I stopped and made a couple pictures at the historic Dial Mill. I think it's one of the oldest ones here in GA.

It's been obscured by trees and undergrowth for years, but a lot of clean-up work has been done since the last time I passed by. The property that it's on was recently purchased and it looks like the new owner is going to build a house near it. I'm hoping the mill will get some much-needed preservation work done in the future.

I think KNI answered it for us. :)

There used to be an old 1950s era truck parked next to the mill, not sure if it's around back or not. I've only seen pictures of it on a local Facebook group that I'm in. It's safe to say that picture taker was trespassing.

Actually yesterday. Took a little drive 743.2 miles in the Ranger. To the Henry ford museum in Detroit.

Hit the 20,000 mile mark along the way.

The Ranger performed perfectly even through fairly heavy rain for the last 200 or so miles on the way home. Dark and wet and lots of road construction along the way, But felt safe and sure footed in the ranger.

There is a lot of Americana in that place. This one sure brings back some memories.

Been a Henry Ford member for a long time, it is a great place, but haven't been there for a few years, thank you Covid... I could (almost) make it there on a tank of gas, though it's over 500 miles, and almost 8 hrs from NE PA. Did you drive up to Wayne for a Ranger family reunion, and to see the new kids. Even just driving around Oakwood outside the entrance to THF, you can see some cool top secret vehicles, maybe the guy who took Phil Schilke's old job, testing a new prototype Ranger Raptor/Wildtrack? But then again I don't think anyone would ably fill Phil's shoes, or should I say boots? :like:

It had been years for me too. Back when I was working for Ford if we had some extra time when in Detroit we would stop in. I have been seeing adds for the new racing display (Sponsored by GM). So I decided to make a visit. Well worth that drive for me.

I didn't make the Ranger reunion.:frown: I did enjoy driving around Oakwood and Rotunda area. Brought back some memories. Lots of construction going on across from the museum. New research center, I think.

I did not see any top secret vehicles. I did see a Bronco, I have not seen any on the streets at home.

I agree. There is no replacement for @P. A. Schilke . ?

Nothing overly exciting here, but yesterday I made my first “extended” highway trip across Alligator Alley and back.

Roughly 250 miles round trip. Truck actually ran a lot better than I anticipated. As expected, the Nitto Ridge Grapplers were quiet (I had them on my Wrangler Unlimited at one point and loved them).

What I wasn’t expecting was the confidence-inspiring stability and smooth ride the Ranger displayed. I hovered around 90 mph most of the drive, but pushing past 100 on occasion I felt like the truck was firmly planted, holding true and extremely responsive…with just the right amount of feedback. In my 2013 Wrangler (which I loved, don’t get me wrong), my knuckles started going white the minute I hit the 75-80 mph range….and the Jeep veered and ran with every groove in the road.

It was also a surprisingly comfortable ride. With multiple joint replacements and a bad back, I need a vehicle that suits my driving position. It was a big factor before pulling the trigger on the Ranger….and the only way to really put it to the test is by logging continuous miles. The same drive in my wife’s 2022 Lexus leaves me sore and stiff the day after. I woke up this morning feeling great.

Anyway, I realize this isn’t an exciting (or even informative) post; but I figured I share. In this case, the Ranger far exceeded my expectations…..and that’s never a bad thing to bring to light.

Recycled pic….just for kicks. Had my wife not been with me I’d have probably tried taking a pic at “stupid speed”. Thank god for my wife, she has a way of keeping my mid-life stupid to a minimum, lol.

Loaded up the snowblower to get it serviced

Yep, it’s that time Steve. I’m seeing this task played out all over rural Ontario at the moment - trucks hauling snow blowers and snow machines to get serviced for the winter. ?
