My Ranger parked next to a crazy diy homemade PWC.

That looks like someone took an old Ski-Doo Bombardier snowmobile from the 70's and Frankensteined it into a watercraft. lol

Maybe I should sneak back when it’s dark and paint the old school black stripe on it. ?

FJs are one of the ugliest vehicle ever made IMO, but I have absolute appreciation for function over form, and that FJ looks as bad ass as one could. I would be sad to be losing such a beutiful & ugly vehicle.

Build plans for the Ranger?
Funny to hear your opinion. The look is so polarizing. I always loved it, especially the TT with color matched roof. Wide angle corner shots are, indeed, hideous, but a nice side view is very different (see below).

Right now, the Ranger is, to me, all about practicality. I want things like bigger tires, leveling, etc, but I will lose gas mileage and I have no practical benefit to having those mods for 99.99% of my use case. To date, I have installed Thule roof bars and am using 1/2 of the Thule XSporter Pro bed rack system. This gives me three equally spaced bars so when I am whitewater kayaking/shutting with friends, I can put 3-4 whitewater kayaks on top and 4 in the bed with ease. All that with one of the aforementioned boats being a 13 foot tandem whitewater kayak.

Other than that, it's a Thule tailgate pad for my mountain bikes; a BedRug bed mat and tailgate mat to make the bed more user friendly than just my base spray-in liner; UnderCover Swingcase on the driver and passenger bed interior (which I may sell because I don't think I am going to store things in them and they interfere with bikes and boats in the bed); Xpel PPF on the full front, and ceramic coat on the rest to keep it protected and looking pretty. I did drop in an FX4 traction mode selector switch and plan to add the modes with ForScan. Part of me really wishes this truck had the FX4 package with a rear locker (that I would use once a decade), but I went with what was available and this Lariat Sport had everything else I wanted including the outside key code pad. I also installed an organizer in the center console.

The current major debate is what to do with the overall bed setup. I may just keep the Thule bed rack, but am also considering a tonneau cover, SofTopper, full class cap, etc. The dilemma is that we travel a lot with our 3 Rhodesian ridgebacks (currently they ride in the back seat, but we are trying to decide if the bed is a better place, kayaks, mountain bikes, skis, a tent, etc. I need to have both a plethora of options and perfect optimization when it comes to hauling gear for trips. All of this in a midsize truck rather than a full size.

That's all a long-winded way of saying, "we'll see where it goes."

The army green goes along way to help the look, and colour match too, still hideously beautiful, lol.

Although I am very happy with my everything on it build, I do miss the quiet, low and smoother ride of a road built vehicle. Hope you enjoy your new Ranger however the build goes
