Is this something different than the roar of the clutch fan?

Yes ussually happens after shifting into drive on a cold start, get some weird engine shuddering initially

I get a "roughness" (hard to describe) on cold mornings but by the end of the street it goes away. Sometimes it even takes a second to get moving in reverse so I'm thinking cold fluids and haven't been concerned.

Mine has a slight exhaust roar at cold start, the rpms start around 1200 and after 30 seconds it drops below 1000. I don’t put it in gear until the Idle drops. This is normal in both of my Rangers and HPP 2.3 Ecoboost mustang .

It's probably getting colder out in the mornings there and needs to warm up a bit longer. You might not have noticed as much when it was warmer out but it's normal, Kind of sounds like a garbage truck for the first 90 seconds. lol Like Doc I try to warm it up until the idle drops but when I leave sooner I get that sound. Mine doesn't rumble the cab though, the damper must be stabilizing it. ?

Mine is very hard to explain. Id say for a full minute when first started it'll have some RPM "sway", nothing I'm worried about though.
