That thing is awesome!

Too much truck for me, but I've seen the work your truck puts in. You could probably put it to work!
I'll definitely put it on watch list, but even if it's not in Unimog price range it's bit of a stretch at the moment in here. The extra tonnage would help and there would be enough capacity to fit a lift as extra. I'd say double the Ranger on price when fitted.

I'll manage with Ranger for now. Just need to upgrade with a trailer, but that in due time after the new grain dryer has paid it's loans :) Got my eyes set on one 3,5ton 3-way tipper (technically can't fully load it with the Raptor but it's street legal while loaded to 2500kg and could be utilized with whatever comes next).

And the Ranger is nicer to ride, and uses only half the diesel of that thing.. :)

Not today, but last night, True North and I out ran tornadoes as a storm raged off Lake Huron through my hometown of Kincardine, delivering my wife safely home, unscathed.

They form over the lake as water spouts and intensify as they come ashore.

I’ll go see if the cottage is still there this weekend.

Thanks Tracy - it’s nestled in a clump of tall cedars and I get a bit nervous when storms come in. Fingers crossed.

Hi Folks,

Today is a day I wish my Ranger was with me. Good friend and neighbor had me drive his 1965 Chrysler Newport up to Exhaust Works for a new exhaust. A week ago we got up to Exhaust Works and the car would not start and had it towed back to GV Radiator, the place that works on old cars.

So the Chrysler was fed a rebuilt starter and all was working, so back up to Tucson today without the Ranger following as what could go wrong? Well, we got up to Exhaust Works about 10 minutes before opening and started to park the Chrysler and I decided to back it in to the slot just in case we needed to access under the hood. Shifted the car into reverse, but nothing happened...no reverse....tried again and again...Nope...no reverse....So we had to push the BIG OLD BOAT into a slot... Switched off the engine and sat until the Exhaust Works opened their doors....Knowing no reverse, we decided to just pull into the open bay, hoping we did not have to back up....Guess what....No starter motor. Sheesh...in the same boat as last week. But I decided to try Neutral instead of park and hit the key....It started...Thinking this was an isolated success, I turned the car over to the mechanic after telling him there was no reverse for some reason....Guy got the car on the hoist and told us to go to breakfast while he checked the exhaust. We were puzzled why the car backed out of the Garage at his house but now was failed...And why would it start only in Neutral???? So at breakfast at the Hungry Fox across the street from the Exhaust Works, the mechanic called to say the whole exhaust would have to be replaced... We finished breakfast and headed back to the shop. Mechanic showed us the paper thin exhaust from the engine to the muffler which he had already cut out of the car. Mechanic told us the car would be a hanger Queen for a couple days...

If we had the Ranger follow us, we would have been home after a 45 minute drive, but with no Ranger we were stuck....Call to my wife...she was having a Pedophile....(Pedicure). His wife was showing a house in Tubac some 20 miles south. Finally got his son-in-law and hour and half later we were underway home....Sheesh. Now when we go back up there...we will only have forward gears in the trans....and how long will that last???

Life owning "classic" cars....

Best,
Phil

I've got no clue.

Does your car have neutral safety switch in gear selector? Possibly a faulty one which operates intermittently and allows starting on gear when the selector doesn't engage it correctly?

Is the reverse shaft, bearing or seal broken?

Well it's been a long 2 weeks without driving the Ranger at all after my Hernia repair surgery. So I really enjoyed getting out for a drive to my local hobby shop to pick up some supplies. It's so nice to enjoy the simple things in life.

My Ingot XLT took us deep into Big Bend today. A geologist buddy told me about a remote slot canyon in the state park (Big Bend Ranch State Park). We found it and the hike through there was one of our all-time best hiking experiences. We had that canyon ALL TO OURSELVES. No one in there but us. It was remarkably beautiful. Thanks, Ranger.

Hi KNI,

Followup....yesterday my friend got a call that the new custom exhaust system had been installed on the 1965 Chrysler Newport and we could come and get it... So his wife drove us up to Tucson where Larry paid a goodly large price for the work of custom fabrication and installation. That done and knowing that the shop backed the car into a parking space I started the car up...this time it was in Park...Selected reverse and the car engaged and backed up until the rear tires hit the parking bumpers...The transmission had total functionality. Larry was puzzled and I told him it had to be heat related. So we headed back to Green Valley on the back roads as I 19 is under construction and a mess. Car drove fine, but the A/C had quit working and we had to resort to 2-55 Air Conditioning. (2 windows down @ 55 mph). It was 104°F in Tucson so a toasty drive back home. His wife CJ was following in their Ford Escape which I got them on X-Plan. The car drove fine and we dropped it off to Keith at Green Valley Radiator to fix the A/C. The transmission retained full functionality. So the theory is the leaky exhaust resulted in a huge amount of heat that overheated the transmission and we lost Reverse and no start in park. Anyway the car is now local and should have the A/C fixed next week...

Must have been a lot of a heat. I'd guess the transmission oil is toast after that. Great that you figured it out.

Another Friday, another day to get the Ranger out to run a few errands. Mainly the Walmart and hardware store to get a bag of concrete.

My wife was walking up and down the driveway exercising when I got home, so I handed her my phone and said "Here make a picture of my Ranger." lol.
