Well, I have to say; thank you for the information! I am relatively new to boating, and one of the reasons I wanted a Ranger was to get in a 4-wheel drive for use on the boat ramps. I actually had fixed up a 1998 Explorer Limited V8 that was awesome for towing the boat, but it was 2-wheel drive and I always worried about breaking traction on the ramp and having issues getting out.

I never considered putting my stuff in 4-wheel drive before the trouble happens. Chalk that up to my inexperience! And thank you for the tip!
Playing on the trails in 2wd until you get stuck with a group is great when there's not much danger. Precarious situations like boat ramps or deep/moving water crossings, it's best to get everything locked in before hand, because when things go bad, it happens very fast.

Also not to say this is you, but there is no shame in taking your trailer to a mall parking lot or industrial area to learn how to back it properly. Too often people who have beed driving a long time, are too proud to be seen learning or practicing something new. Backing is easy enought to do, but does does require some practice and patience. Take a few hours in the comfort of a parking lot, instead of at the boat ramp with all that pier pressure.

Trailer backing is something I'm not too bad at. Luckily I was thrown into the water, sink or swim, at work. Imagine driving a Lenco Bearcat armored truck to a barricaded gunman call, and they set the house on fire in a crappy attempt to escape out the back. And in order to clear space for a firetruck, the special ops robot's really small trailer is quickly hitched to your gigantic armored truck. What a PITA!!!! HAHAHA But I had to learn quickly in situations like that and while moving other equipment around work how to pull a trailer years before I got my boat. My wife wanted to learn how to drive the trailer to be able to help with boat recovery on the ramp, but after trying to teach her, she's on the boat side of the equation and I handle the trailering. :D

Doorbell rang early this morning. I open the door to see a 5 ton box truck on the street. It was at that moment I realized what had arrived. Sure enough, the driver rolled up the door and revealed the Bak Revolver X4S. This is the piece I really needed before my vacation begins on Saturday.

After much searching, these covers got a little hard to find in the last month. Several truck outfitters offered to order it, quoting 8-12 week lead times. Amazon.ca sold out. When they became available again, the price jumped $120.00CAD.
More searching lead me to TDot Performance. Good price. Arrived 8 days after ordering it.

I have a couple busy work days here. Hope to install it Thursday. Then get the bed lighting installed Friday. Off to enjoy the lake on Saturday.

I pulled 7 trucks from the lake when I was towing.

Me - Hey what happened?
Them - Started backing in, lost traction and slid right in.
Me - Is the truck 4x4, was 4x4 on?
Them - It is, but it wasn't on. I was going to turn it on if I needed it.

Every time.
Had someone on one of the North Texas lakes a few years ago slide in like that while he was in his truck. No one was around and he drowned. People unknowingly were launching their boats above the submerged truck.

I have a 2019 Lariot so I did not need to order anything.

I already have all the missing pieces or things that have been discontinued
Need? Who said anything about need? You probably didn't need the Lariat either? Forget about need, go buy your Ranger wants!

Mine too! Yesterday, I was running FORscan in the truck. I left to take a phone call and when I came back it was on Shrockworks checkout page waiting for credit card info. WTF?

Damn you and your finished truck reminding me how much work I have sitting in the garage.

This is why you should never leave your truck connected to your laptop alone. You never know what might show up at your door. ?
